^Hopefully not for a few weeks!

I feel like my possessions are being decimated by a plague. In addition to the drill and the saw, since December, I have also had to replace a dead cell phone and an ailing microwave.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not over-enamoured with Apple's aesthetic. They're similar in some respects, but Vaio look more mechanical/technological whereas Apples look more natural/organic. I prefer the Sony look. More fundamentally, I don't want a Mac.
Neither did I, but unlike you I was very much attracted to the design of the MBP. To each his own.

When you do finally look to pick up a TV and BD player, check out cnet.com. Their ratings are by far the most complete, thorough, exhaustive and informative.

Thanks for the advice!

BTW, is there any particular reason as to why Blu-Ray players came to be abbreviated as BD players instead of BR players? I'd have thought it would have at least condensed to BRD players (echoing the DVD abbreviation)?

^ Yeah, BD stands for Blu-ray Disc. I believe the Blu-ray Disc Association came up with that official abbreviation.

No idea why though... I've always preferred BR. But I frequent a blu-ray forum and they all use BD, so I've gotten used to ti.

Re: Your latest purchases, cont.

Went to Sephora and picked up this (in "Frosted Cupcake" pink, not blue):

Hello Kitty!

A tiny purchase, but I had so many club points that I got a free bottle of the Hello Kitty perfume. It's actually a nice perfume, but the bottle was what I wanted.

ETA- yes, I'm almost 40 and I love Hello Kitty. Bite me.

My computer recognises my optical disk drive as a BD-ROM Drive. I guess it sounded convenient at the time.

Anyway, my last purchase was, essentially, moving expenses. A bargain price too.

This very model of coffee-grinder:

Red, green, yellow orange... no, not for me!!
Ny kitchen is gray and black!

I have no idea why you can set how fine you want to grind your beans as the only usable setting is the finest!

Actually I believe it was Twiki who came up with it: "BD BD BD BD BD BD"

Bought a delicious lunch at TGI Friday's today...
