Giving blacks the vote weakened the South? Their love of the misery of slavery and greed for its continuation and expansion into territories seeking statehood made the CSA quite deserving of the war they got. One that could have been easily avoided by abolition. But Southern states' greed and inhumanity that perpetuated slavery earned them their quite just reward.The only thing weakened in the south by black's voting was racist foolishness.

The combiantion of disqualifying confederate officers from voting and allowing black men to vote effectively weakened the white populations political power int he south...your talking points are not verified history its just the lies that the Union fed to their citizens and other countries to justify their unlawful war.

Yeah, I was going to get there too. But I suppose that to people who have no idea what they are talking about, good research and bad research look virtually the same, so they are free to pick the version that agrees with their prejudices.

And on the same page: even if all the "Yankees" are beholden to "Union propaganda", how comes that non-American historical researchers, who clearly don't have a dog in this fight and thus are more likely to be unbiased, come to exactly the same conclusions as the "Yankee" historians, while virtually all Southern apologists hail from the South? (and are all quite butthurt at the resolution of the war?) It should at least make people think about it...

That doesn't explain how blacks weakened the South by being able to vote. Nor does it explain how the South would be strengthened by removing blacks from the voting roles.

Isn't it obvious, the blacks were reliant on northern intervention for their safety and freedom, by stopping a number of whites from voting and allowing the blacks to vote, it in effect made the southern states easier to control and occupy.

No, the blacks would of been free in at most 30 years anyway so they'd be fine, the industrial revolution would of made slavery obselete.
