^ There was a rumor that this would be a prequel..the write there could very well indicate the story takes place before CoR. But at this point, they aren't spilling detailed info.
Um...it's a sequel. It takes place directly after "Chronicles of Riddick"...or a few months after Riddick assumes the throne. This has been confirmed for a while now.
I believe I recall a statement from Vin or another writer saying the time between the films will be addressed with a few lines of dialogue.
The synopsis on the linked page specifically starts "Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet [...]." Who else would that be at this point except the Necromancers?
The beginning of CoR has him on the ice planet, chased by Toombs and his mercs....that scenario could very well spin off a story as to how Riddick actually wound up there (ending with him on the run from Toomy)... I wasn't aware that the chronology had been set as definitely following the last movie, but a guy can imagine, can't he?
Sure he can imagine Towhry has stated that we will see Riddick returning to his routes from "Pitch Black" and that "Dead Man Stalking" will take place shortly after COR and address the events from the end of that movie.
"His own kind" is referring to the Necromancers since Riddick is the Lord Marshall at the start of the film.
I always figured Riddick would get bored of that Necromonger gig after a couple days and just bail on them. He seems like the kind of guy that would fight his way to the top and then find the top is a pretty boring place after all...
Vin just posted this on facebook I watched Pitch Black recently and was amazed at how young he looked in it. Although this is a still he must have a portrait in an attic somewhere.
^ That is correct...but once again...the synopsis is not referring to the Furyans, but the Necromancers of which he is the Lord Marshall...thus "his people" since he leads them. Awesome pic. I can't wait for a trailer.
