Edward Hardwicke dies age 78

Edward Hardwicke, best known for his portrayal of Dr. Watson in Granada's Sherlock Holmes series produced between 1986 and 1994, passed away aged 78.
He was my favourite actor to play Watson.

RIP. I very much enjoyed his work as Watson.

That's sad. I loved him as Watson in the "Sherlock Holmes" with the late, magnificent Jeremy Brett as Sherlock. We just finished a run through the series, most of which my wife and I saw first-run.

One of our local PBS stations has been running this particular Sherlock Holmes series, and I have enjoyed by his, and Jeremy Brett's performances as Holmes and Watson. they played off each other very well.

Ugh, finding out about two celebrity deaths involving people I followed when I was younger. Terrible news, he was a fantastic non-bumbling Watson. RIP.

He was a great Watson. I guess I'm in the minority, but I HATED Nigel Bruce's Watson. His portrayal was NOTHING like the stories. Watson was NOT a boob.
