Voice of Smaug?

Who do you think should voice Smaug in the upcoming Hobbit films? I think Richard Boone did a great job in the old Rankin-Bass cartoon, so I hope they get someone like that.

Agreed. Boone did an excellent job voicing Smaug. The new movie will be lucky if they can obtain a performance of that calibre.

I hope they don't get Liam Neeson. sure he would do an awesome job, but he seems tho be the defacto voice for everything.

My vote: Avery Brooks!

Well since Del Toro was involved in the pre-production, it very clearly must be Ron Pearlman! He would be perfect.

I agree that the Rankin-Bass cartoon voice was absolute perfection. All those voices have always been my definitive voice of the characters.

Re: Voice of Smaug?

Peter Serafinowicz, he was the voice of Darth Maul in SW:TPM. I think he would bring a menacing but eloquent voice to the role. Not the typical super deep voice bur deep enough to be outstanding.

Somehow, I don't think that would have the desired effect.
