How different would it have been if the either the Time Capsule or the duplicate Voyager and Crew had survived, even if only for a short time, and met up with the real Voyager?

It just seemed that the duplicate Crews' lives were wasted because they never got a chance to pass on there experiences and memories to the real crew, even to pass on any knowledge and technology they picked up.

But "they" weren't wasted if you consider the very "real" impact they had on all those races they interacted with, during their flight to Earth.

Also, the very real impact they had on those of us watching the show.

I think there would have been more of an impact, and more griping, if we had been with them for a few episodes. If the writers had blended it so we didn't know we were watching the duplicate crew. I think it would have been more powerful.

Even though we know it's not true I recall reading from around the time that episode aired that Berman claimed there were episodes where we were watching the alternate crew even before this episode aired.

After having disregarded Voyager for years, that's the exact episode that I caught on either SyFy or Spike that made me think "I need to check out this series!" The rest is history.

I found it both heartbreaking and thought provoking. It made it even better once I saw the whole Demon Planet back story. Grinds my gears every time though that the copy Janeway keeps insisting on heading for Earth, even though everyone else seems to realize that they need to head back to their home planet. Then, they came so close to hooking up with the real Voyager. Yikes. Melting Ensign Kim gave it his best effort, but even poor copy Kim once again gets the short end of the stick.

^^

It seems like they wanted to make Janeway's argument that they were no less human, even though it was a stupid argument.

If Tom really didn't give a damn, he should've just turned the ship around himself. I doubt he wasn't the only one that felt that way.

Not really, Anwar. My pithy reply was a little mischievous and flippant - just trying to raise a smile! Actually, I think RB presided over some of the best Trek had to offer, but I do think he got somewhat "burnt out" towards the end of his tenure. Sorry if I yanked your chain.

Berman was a decent producer, but it's quite easy to say we saw the crew previously after the fact.

Where was the mention of them trying to assemble this new warp core? Where was the mention of the ensign's baby?

Hence, Berman talking out of his ass.

We don't know how fast they made the new warp core (and hell, seeing how easily tech appears and disappears so much in Trek...) so the prior episodes with the Demon crew could've happened without the Core being mentioned.

Neither one of us can prove our point 100% absolutely, I propose we agree to disagree.
