Luther - New BBC One drama starring Idris Elba

Today I finally got around to watch the first episode of the new BBC One drama series Luther starring The Wire's Idris Elba. I really loved the trailers and I am pleased to say that the first episode lived up to my expectations.

Luther is, as the BBC puts it....
A dark psychological crime drama starring Idris Elba as Luther, a man struggling with his own terrible demons, who might be as dangerous as the depraved murderers he hunts.
It reminded me a lot of The Shield crossed with Silence of the Lambs, especially as the main villain, a woman named Alice who kills her parents in episode 1, manages to elude capture by Luther in the first episode but continues to cast a shadow over Luther's private and professional life during the first season.

So, did anyone see it, and what did you guys think?

Looks like Luther will be airing in the US on BBC America starting on the 17th of October.

Took me a while but I got in to it, and would like to see a second series, but if Idris Elba is back working in the US I have my doubts he'll be able to do it, even if he's as eager to do it as he says.
