I thought the overall design of the room was fantastic myself, although I can definitely see how they would want to fix some of the surfaces. Some of the walls did look awfully cheap and flimsy up close.

I'd like to see the third picture from the left being the new interior.

Re: New TARDIS interior next year? What?

Well, i love the new Tardis, although its a little too busy in places, i like the idea of multiple levels and random off shoots where the Doctor, in for instance Amys Choice, is looking for a chest of stuff to keep them warm, i think its this ep, and he walks up a set if stairs from the console platform and ends up looking through a few gaps in an upper level while talking, it adds physical depth and detail that until then, we didnt know what those gaps were, and theyre obviously now a walkway to, well, somewhere. I love that idea, but at the same time its delightfully random and matches this current doctor.

But when i read about the re-design, so soon into seeing the new one i thought of this vid from Confidential after The Eleventh Hour:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWPH9Y49CCI
Where the designer talks about the, ahem, rtd coral aspect of the new living Tardis is slowly healing.

So from that i took it that gradually, this new console room would change as it healed, naturally as it is, in NuWho, alive.

But, hey, if its difficlut to film certain angles etc, then i cant see a drastic change, only a few changes to alow more to be seen from angles in the set, just like they make changes to any other long standing set such as Stargates Gateroom, various Trek sets and even sets in The West Wing were altered to alow smoother and more camera access.

I loved those concept sketches, i like the fact that, in the case of those last two images, that a slight colour and detail change makes the whole thing look totally different, even though they are exactly the same image.

It'd be nice if they could get back some of the expansiveness of the RTD console room. I know it's physically bigger, but it's just so full that it's hard to get that sense from it.

I always felt it looked bigger with the stairs and multiple levels. I've always wanted to see more of the tardis not just the control room. I really like the design and would miss it.

Don't have a major problem with another redesign, just worry that this eats even more into a smaller budget to begin with.

And chance we can get back the old whirring sound that would eminate as the doors opened?

I wonder if this one is still floating around in there.

Otherwise, I wouldn't mind the McGann version making a comeback.
Wow! I've been wondering when a photo of that set would turn up...

Definitely among the best...

I'd be happy just having the squeak in the door that was there during Nine/Ten's time. But I guess when the TARDIS regenerated for Eleven, the squeak got fixed. I thought it was a nice bit of character for the ol' girl.

I miss the squeak, too. It added to the magic of the TARDIS -- to think that this amazing, fantastic thing is inside this small, old, wooden box.

I can't see if anything was brought up here about the lack of space between the inner & outer doors.

I just got done watching The Daleks, and there was only one set of doors. Absolutely no space between the inside and the outside.

Funny thing was, from the inside, when the doors were open, there was the white with roundels appearance on what would be the outside of the doors.

actually the architectural configuration program doing it's job (castrovalva).. I am happy to see the show designers and I had the same idea when it came to the redesigns..very cool to have been shown the new concept art as well..the last design is exactly what I was thinking would be best..

I hope they choose that one

^Well, what I meant was that the exterior of the doors appear to be the roundel design from the interior because that's what their architectural configuration is set to look like, while the Chameleon Circuit is what makes them appear as Police Box doors from anyone viewing them on the outside of the ship...
