Phase II (1978) Stage 9 Photos?
After recently finding this nice shot of the incomplete PII bridge I started hunting for more stuff but I'm coming up empty. Does anyone have any new PII documents they can share or link to? I'd even love to see a PII-era Stage 9 map just to see what the creators had planned for the sets; the closest I've found is the TMP layout here. Watching the films, TNG, and VOY I never really paid attention to the set layout but for some reason the way these sets were repurposed over 20+ years fascinates me. Makes me wish I had an opportunity to visit them before they were destroyed to make room for ENT's "cave set". Thanks! |

Re: Phase II (1978) Stage 9 Photos?
Another fun thing to check out if you haven't already: the Phase II Enterprise Flight Manual here. I am amazed at the level of verisimilitude designed into the Phase II sets -- particularly the consoles with their practical buttons. Rather than random flashing greeblies, every control had a specific, well-thought out function that writers and directors for the upcoming series could utilize. This all carried over virtually intact to TMP, where it was almost never used on screen (but was seen several times in detail in TWOK). Even by 1987 standards the whole concept was pretty dated (the fluid, customizable touch screen interfaces seen from TNG on are of course much more practical) but it's still fun to see where they were planning on going with the show. |

Re: Phase II (1978) Stage 9 Photos?
http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/ ^ These guys actually continued the story and made their own episodes.... and you'd be surprised at some of the guest stars they got for their episodes. They got Walter Koenig, George Takei, Grace Lee Whitney, Denise Crosby, Majel Roddenberry (for the computer voice) and a bunch more to pop into their show. I can't say I watched any of their episodes other then their trailer for the show..... the actors they got to play Kirk, Bones and Spock sure don't look like the originals, but they paid close attention on trying to use the same stage setups, technology and to film their episodes in the same quality and effects as TOS. From what I can tell on the site, you can either watch the episodes straight off their web site, or download to your hard drive. Enjoy. |

No mention of the book in the OP. Sometimes it amazes me that people will try to pick a fight over something so trivial. Oh and save your for someone who cares.

Re: Phase II (1978) Stage 9 Photos?
I read the original post thank you very much, yer almighty holiness of all things forum.... since it related and he/she seemed interested in Phase II, I provided him/her with some additional information that some people actually moved forward with the Phase II concept. Got a problem with that? Apparently you do.... get over yourself princess. Added: At least Number6 and I contributed "Something".... what have you done in here besides shat on others? ![]() Here's another shot I stumbled upon just now of the concept bridge for Phase II: http://drexfiles.files.wordpress.com...e_phase_ii.jpg Very much looks like the Motion Picture Bridge with TNG uniforms, lol. Also, I found this site describing the modeling of the Klingon D-7: http://www.modelermagic.com/?p=1722 |

(the model of that ship can be seen in the junkyard in TNG "Unification", just in case anyone cares)

Re: Phase II (1978) Stage 9 Photos?
![]() ^ Not sure exactly, since I never heard of the Planet of the Titans TV Movie, but in my Art of Star Trek book, they show a number of sketches and angles of this ship and it was one of the first early concepts of the next Enterprise, which they later settled on the 1701-A design..... but I'd suspect that this concept was what set them in the direction for the 1701-D Galaxy Class. Can't say I ever noticed it in the Junkyard. Here's a couple of other shots of this concept: ![]() ![]() http://www.ottens.co.uk/forgottentre...phaseIIent.jpg ^ Too large to IMG tag |

Re: Phase II (1978) Stage 9 Photos?
Now, on the subject of the actual Phase II series...I can't believe that female extra on the bridge has a skirt so short that the entire bottom half of her buttcheeks stick out. Makes me wish Phase II were produced instead of TMP ![]()
