Seems any talk of Nathan Fillion as Ant-Man or Captain Tightpants or whoever is misplaced.

Joss already confirmed this way back at comic con and was joking when he said that Nathan was who he would pick if Ant-Man was actually in the film.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Snipets from Joss Whedon interview on Avengers:

RE: They trust you?
Joss: They do! They do, Marvel – they’re very trusting at Marvel. It’s kind of like, in the early days of the WB, when you know, I came back to my agent and said, it was really different, really interesting, they respected what I was talking about, they listened to me and they really let me have my own way – and yeah, they have no idea what I’m doing! Marvel they do actually know, they know exactly what they want to do, but they don’t mind a film maker making his film in the service of what it is they want to do, they’re not trying to press me into something that isn’t me, which is really gratifying.

Joss: Oh yes. Oh yes. I was reading the Avengers when I was eleven, this is…it’s a big deal for me. I’ve wanted to make a comic book movie, and I was like, “nobody can make a comic book movie”, and then Spiderman came out and I was like “…ok, he can make a comic book movie!”.
There is more if you go to the link, not much more but I didn't want to put the whole thing in here.

Seems he was not only able to tweak the Captain America script but as stated in that piece he reworked a portion of the Avengers script as well. I really like Joss and can't wait for Dollhouse S2 to hit shleves in October. Be real curious to see what type of dialogue he gives to our Avengers.

I believe that he gave an interview recently on what he actually tweaked on the Captain America script...said mostly dialogue and characters and tightened stuff up.

Might this be preceded or followed by a solo Black Widow movie?

As soon as I saw Scarlett in "Iron Man 2" I knew they were going to at least try and do a "Black Window" film. There was one in development that I think David Goyer wrote as a vehicle for the singer Sarah Slean after "Daredevil" came out but that never went anywhere.

Smart thing to do is see how the Avengers does first then gauge if Black Widow is popular enough to support a movie.

As it stands right now, only Hawkeye and Black Widow are the only ones without a origin movie.

Mark Ruffalo to Actually Play The Hulk
by SuperHeroHype
Sep 24th, 2010Will do the performance capture for the character
We all know that Mark Ruffalo landed the part of Bruce Banner/The Hulk in Marvel Studios' upcoming The Avengers. What we didn't know is that he'll actually do the motion capture for the Green Goliath!

He told Vulture: "I'm really excited. No one's ever played the Hulk exactly, they've always done CGI... They're going to do the Avatar stop-action, stop-motion capture. So I'll actually play the Hulk. That'll be fun."

Ruffalo added that he's going more for Bill Bixby's Banner: "I really love the first TV version of it, the Bill Bixby one... I'm gonna shoot for that a little bit. He was an everyman in it. He's always on the run and trying to find love. It's really a sympathetic character, before he turns into the Hulk and f*cks everything up."

The Avengers is scheduled for a May 4, 2012 release.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

SFX had a chat with Joss Whedon also on The Avengers.
“I’m feeling that everything that I have done before has prepared me for this, besides the fact that I’ve been reading The Avengers since I was 11.” “There are definitely stipulations and restrictions, but Kevin Feige is very active as a producer and worked with me a lot on the story, but they are absolutely honouring the fact that this is my film. .... They don’t hire Mark Ruffalo [the new Hulk] to say one iconic line and strike a pose. They hire him because he has so much humanity in him. He’s the antithesis of the iconic actor. He’s so human. He was my first choice to play the part, and the fact he is playing the part is nuts! They went to great lengths to make that happen and they understood exactly why he was right for the part.”
So was Ruffalo the first choice for Whedon after Norton wasn't asked back by Feige OR was Norton not asked back cause Whedon wanted Ruffalo?

^ My guess is the former. Had Marvel wanted Norton back, he'd be back. I mean, for the sake of argument, if Whedon wanted to cast DB Woodside as Nick Fury (borrowing Xander's eyepatch) or Alexis Denisof as Iron Man, do you think Feige would let him?

Come on, don't give the Whedon-haters any more ammo - 'Hey, Norton ain't coming back as Hulk because of that douchebag Whedon! He even said it himself'

Does it really matter at this point? What's done is done.

This link is mostly comprised of stuff already in the thread (the Ruffalo, Whedon interviews) as well as a dodgy rumour that Morena Baccarin will be joining the cast as Wasp. Well, it makes a change from the usual Nathan Fillion rumours.

The Avengers is about to begin set construction.
The Avengers has already found a location to begin set building at Bethpage's Grumman Studios, according to a report at Long Island Business News.

The shoot, described as "huge" by Grumman Studios President Parviz Farahzad, will make use of all seven buildings on the studio lot, most recently home to Salt's studio production.

Earlier reports had indicated that parts of the shoot would take place in Los Angeles, and it is possible that production could be split between the two coasts.

Set construction is said to begin next month...
The reality of the film moves that much more closer to reality!!

Eric Bana admits he could be jealous of Ruffalo and The Avengers cast.
"Only if they have a lot of fun," he explained while at New York Comic Con promoting the thriller, "Hanna." "The obvious potential there is those movies can be a lot of fun to make. But then sometimes they're not. I would be jealous if it turns out they just go off and have a good time."
I don't know how they won't have fun on set. RDJ and Chris Evans cracking wise with Sam Jackson. I imagine the set is going to be full of camaraderie, sorry Eric.
