Believe it or not, July 4 Syfy Greatest American Hero Marathon

Haven't seen this since it first aired, I'll be curious to see what it's like after 25+ years.

Best. '80s primtime action-drama TV series theme song. Ever.

It's always interesting to point out William Katt 1970's hair and then have it evolve into the shorter 1980's look.

Same thing happened with David Hassellhoff from 1982 to 1986.

I know it's really obvious but having not seen this for a long while I didn't realize how much Chuck is the spiritual successor to this show.

I just remembered this was on, just in time for "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys." It's a pretty good one so far, allowing for the cheesy flying effects. But Robert Culp is the real superhero of this show. His ad-libs and mannerisms as Bill Maxwell really brought the show to life.

^Yeah, Glover had a bit part as a cop in the opening sequence. His partner did not particularly resemble Mel Gibson.

Meanwhile, Connie Sellecca was kinda fine, wasn't she?

Tom Cruise is crazy and short, and Mel Gibson is crazy and drunk. Can't play the Patriot and can't play Born on the Fourth of July and they've become just that big enough assholes that you have to wonder who is the Greatest American Hero?

NO flying effect will ever be as awful as the Pumaman's.

All I remembered of this show was the theme song, the goofy suit, the wild hair, and the guy trying to fly Superman-style and failing badly.

How did I not realize that Robert Culp was also in it?

What I'm wondering is why Connie Sellecca was absent for much of the early second season. The marathon just went through three or four episodes in a row where she was missing.

Re: Believe it or not, July 4 Syfy Greatest American Hero Marathon

My husband didn't believe me when I tried to explain this show to him. He kept telling me I was getting the 'Believe it or not George isn't at home' lyrics wrong! As much as I still like the show, I wonder what 'SyFy''s motivation was in the marathon? It seems they tossed old kitschy like this out of their lineup a long time ago-and then replaced it with Wrestling!
