Re: Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

If Raimi wanted to do Silver Age Spider-Man (and succeeded) I don't see why Marc Webb can't make his Spider-Man more based on the darker 80s comics period or other eras. They're all just as valid as the Lee/Ditko or Lee/Romita times.

Who says he's not taking from all Spider-Man continuity? People (including myself) seem to think he's reducing himself to just one segment of Spider-Man's history. No one said anything about any era not being valid.

Re: Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

I think I'm just getting tired of origin stories in general. These superheroes have been around and have been popular for so long that, if you don't know their backstory by now, you probably don't care to. I'd love a superhero movie that just dives right into an established world without worrying about how the heroes got started.

Spider Man already had an origin movie less than a decade ago. I don't need or want another one, even if they do things differently.

It's Spider-Man. The film is going to do well. It has the appeal of something new and exciting with a brand-new cast and look. It might not make as much as the previous movies, but the curiosity level will probably help it quite a bit at the box office.
True. The film could be two hours of this, and it will still make 700 million dollars.
I would watch a two-hour movie of that.

Re: Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Sony have released hi-res versions of the pics already shown, though I hadn't seen the last one on this page before. Anyone else reminded of a sequence in Spider-man 2?

Re: Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

The last picture has been posted somewhere in the thread before. I think it was Sammy who posted it, and I wanna say it was included in the trailer...but I've seen it before. I guess I'm reminded of the subway sequence in "Spider-Man 2".

^ I did say 'pics already shown' but these are hi-res versions, which I think is new. I must have overlooked the subway care one.

More Spidey talke. Kevin Feige confirms that the webslinger will not be teaming up with other teams like The Avengers:

"No. I think obviously in the comics, the team-ups and mix-ups have kept publishing going for many years. But Spider-Man has a huge universe of its own, so many villains, foes and friends "¦ It's not something we're thinking about because we have so much more to tell."

Andrew Garfield moves to reassure those who missed the wise-cracking Spidey of the comics in the Raimi movies:

Garfield's portrait, however, will be as quick-witted as he is fleet-footed, all involved assure. "They hired a comedic actor to wear the suit and he does the jokes," Garfield reveals. "He's brilliant. Judd Apatow is in the suit."
And Marc Webb talks stunts and SFX:

"Because we were shooting this in 3D, I wanted to conceive of certain things very specifically for 3D. There's an experiential component to 3D that is really, really fantastic. We're experimenting with generating that point of view -- so that you feel what Peter Parker feels and what Spider-Man feels when he's jumping over buildings and over the streets and that sort of thing. But we made -- and Andrew had to pay the price for this -- a very conscious effort to ground the stunts.
"We had an incredible stunt team put together. They built this whole rig -- hundreds of feet long "¦ in Harlem, and we swung a man through traffic, down the street. They also built a car rig with a series of wires that was incredibly complicated and really a beautiful contraption, to help do those effects practically.
"That was something that I thought was really, really exciting and exhilarating to explore, not to mention an incredible level of acrobatics."
