He's still involved as a producer on a lot of their films, including The Amazing Spider-Man.

EW has the following rather unexpected quote from Avi Arad:

"Exec producer Avi Arad says the film won't erase what came before but will try to weave a narrative that could take place within the framework of the earlier films. 'It's not a comeback,' he says. 'You have to look at it this way: Do you want to know more about Spider-Man? This movie is going to tell stories that you didn’t see in movies 1, 2, and 3."
Wait, Nero is in this?!

Re: Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

The explosion of Doc Ock's mini-sun in SM2 created a temporal anomaly. In one timeline SM3 ensued, in the other, we get the new movie. Heh.

He's probably just trying to minimize the backlash from people who liked the Raimi films.

Pretty much. Besides Spider-Man 3, the Raimi films are pretty fondly remembered. The Amazing Spider-Man will have some barriers to overcome in the sense of people who might be apprehensive about a reboot so soon after Raimi's films (and I've seen such indignation from members of this very board).

Re: Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

It's obvious what his comments were trying to do...I didn't care for them. I was against the reboot happening but have pretty much come to support it. To try and reconcile the reboot as being part of the Rami films...I dunno. Fans will either accept the reboot or they won't. They don't need a producer making comments to help them.
