Hopefully Nolan doesn't try to impart the same sense of 'realism' on the Superman franchise as he did Batman.

I really don't care for Darkseid as a villain. I like the idea of Lex & Brainiac...maybe a lesser know villain thrown in just for fans.

JMHO.

I think once casting is out the way...this will put us all at ease.

Having Brainiac in the film will satisfy the over-the-top CGI requirement that seems to be prevalent in today's movies. But I think it would be a good idea to have more than one villain. Despite the massive camp in Superman 2, having the Kryptonians and Luthor together really jazzed it up.

Still, 2012 seems like a long time to wait. I'd rather they bring back the old serials. Have 45 minute mini-adventures that come out every 6 months or so attached to other movies.

Yeah I never understood the appeal of Darkseid either. I get the appeal of wanting to pit Superman against a god, but all that other stuff with the alternate dimension and Granny always bored the crap out of me on the animated series.

I think Eion Bailey might have a shot. He was a runner-up for Nolan's Batman and he's been thrown around for Superman quite a few times in the past as well.

I could be in error, but didn't the original Superman movie debut during the winter holiday?

Nah, he'd be considered too old, especially if they want to make a series out of it. He'd be 36 by the time the movie comes out. If anything, the oldest they would go would be ~30, like when Bale was cast as Batman (Bale was 31 in 2005).
