AVATAR CONTEST: "Heroes and Icons of Fantasy"

In tribute to Frazetta, who recently passed, I thought that we might, for one contest, shift gears and embrace less sci fi tendencies and more fantasy, using Heroes and Icons of fantasy.

So stay away from sci fi, despite the fact that much of sci fi is like fantasy.

I'm thinking Swords, sorcery and sandals. So I'm going to make the call: No Star Wars!
I guess the entries will be accepted until Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

Usual Avatar Rules Apply.

Since I just started watching it a couple days ago in anticipation of the movie this summer, I'm gonna go with this...

A little recent to be an icon, maybe, but it sure made an impact on me:

Star Wars is fantasy, not sci-fi.
I knew this would come up. I agree it is si fi set in space. The spirit of this contest, however, is more of the dingy dirty swords and sorcery genre. I thought long and hard and decided to make the call and exclude Star Wars, but that call could've gone either way.

Hmm. I'm unsure about this. Which do you like better:

Animated

or Live action?

Why don't we agree to a compromise and just call it science-fantasy?

auntiehill, I agree with the others, go with the cartoon.

Here's my entry:

Not so much a hero as an icon of fantasy:
