Premakes

What are they, Well, in movie terms, they are a version of a new movie, but made in the past. Imagine a version of Forest Gump made and set during WW II? Or Philadelphia set in the mid-60's starring Gregory Peck and Sidney Poitier, and about anti-Semetism instead of AIDS? One person has made some trailers for recent films that look like the were made in the 40's and 50's:

Re: Premakes

They're pretty cool.

As for "Raiders," I think a lot of that is from Heston's "Secret of the Incas," which is practically an actual premake. Seriously. Watch it sometime.

Re: Premakes

Meh, this concept has been around awhile.

Master and Command was a premake of Star Trek!

Right, right?

Yeah, I guess so. But the actual concept was first created in a October 1994 issue of Premiere magazine, in the 'Screen Test' section. And the contest was to create premakes of 1990's films (The Crying Game, Philadelphia, The Silence Of The Lambs, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Basic Instinct).
