Aliens in Civil War Outfits?

Hi,

Does anyone know the name of a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode that involves aliens wearing either Civil War or Revolutionary War outfits?

Thanks,

I think you're referring to Hide and Q. It was a first season episode which marked the first time Q returned to TNG. This was the episode where Q gives Riker Q powers.

Those uniforms look rather Napoleonic to me - too early for the Civil War, slightly too late for the Revolutionary War.

(The Voyager episode "The Q and the Grey" featured aliens in Civil War uniforms, and in human disguise to boot, if that's what you're looking for; not TNG, I'm afraid.)

Yes, they were Napoleonic, In fact, I think Riker remarks about Q's French Field Marshal costume

Concur. Hide & Q featured Napoleonic era uniforms.

Time's Arrow featured some late 19th century costumes; the OP might be thinking of those.

Otherwise, I'd go with Timo's suggestion of Voyager's Q & the Grey.

The only episode I can think of is VOY: The Q and the Grey.

Re: Aliens in Civil War Outfits?

Quick random question: why does the VOY episode use Grey rather than Gray? I never noticed before, since I'm British so the former spelling is unremarkable to me. But now I think about it, how come the American spelling isn't used? Did the Confederacy deliberately use British spelling? Or did the Americanisation of the English language come at a later date, so the pre-Americanisation English spelling of Grey stuck?

Don't anwser Holdfast's question. He's trying to hijack the thread and make it about something entirely off topic.

I'm guessing either a dual, old poster who lost his/her account or a long time lurker....OR all of the above.

Actually, none of the above. I wanted to know the name of a particular episode, and thought that a natural place to go to would be a star trek forum. So I went to google, typed in "star trek forum" and guess what? THIS WEBSITE IS THE FIRST RESULT!

Hooray us!

Really, I never noticed that weird spelling, and being from a foe-reign regime myself is no excuse. Good catch, and an interesting issue. But Civil War outfits really only seem to appear in that one episode of Star Trek: VOY. Unless one counts the Squire of Gothos and thinks of him as a traditionalist of sorts.

The Squire didn't wear Civil War garb, either.

Oh. I got the impression you were familiar with Holdfast's antics here.
