What does the title Silicon Avatar mean?

I never got it? I know what avatar means but I don't undestand how it is used in this episode. Silicon I assume refers to the crystaline entity. Can someone explain please?

EDIT**

Scrub that - I found this
In Hinduism, Avatar or Avatāra (Devanagari अवतार, Sanskrit for "descent" [viz., from heaven to earth]) refers to a deliberate descent of a deity from heaven to earth, and is mostly translated into English as "incarnation", but more accurately as "appearance" or "manifestation".[1]
I wasn't aware the word had more than one meaning till now

Another definition is "Repository of knowledge".

Like Data's silicon circuitry.

Data is the "silicon avatar", not the crystalline entity. Silicon is the organic base of circuits and he acts as the "incarnation" of the late colonists through their personal diaries.

They need to put this episode out in 3D.

He also acts as a "silicon avatar," or stand-in, for Dr. Marr's deceased son, at least in her mind.

The crystalline entity could also be the silicon avatar.

Silicon refers to it's mineral make up instead of biological make up, and avatar refers to it appearing from the heavens with the power of life and death.

Re: What does the title Silicon Avatar mean?

I definitely think its referring to the crystaline entity and not Data.
Data is in every episode so why name the episode about him unless its a very Data oriented episode like a fist full of Data's, Datalore, Data's day?

Because it's a new aspect of data, being the bearer of knowledge for the colonists.

Besides, the writer of the episode also says so:

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Silicon_Avatar_(episode)

One meaning of "avatar" is a "repository of knowledge", and as such, Jeri Taylor intended the title to refer to Data. (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)

Yeah, I find a lot of episode titles reach for plot A and plot B both if they have a dual meaning.

That's why writers make big bucks and light cigars with $100 bills.
