Favorite TNG Episode... Just One

If you were to choose JUST ONE favorite TNG episode, What would it be?

You can only choose one...

Mine is "Elementary Dear Data"

Good choice! Definately on my top ten.

My vote goes to "Sins of the Father."

"It is a good day to die and the day is not yet over." Great stuff!

Difficult decision, but I'd go for "Darmok". It is from its top to its bottom entirely what Star Trek should be about.

As much as I love "The Inner Light", "The Best of Both Worlds", "Yesterdays Enterprise" and "Chain of Command, Part II" to name a few, I think that "Darmok" is the greatest implementation in TNG of what Star Trek is actually about. It explored strange new worlds, new life and new civilizations. What more is there to say?

Since "Darmok" has already been mentioned, I'll say "Masks" for similar reasons, but it was discovering ancient civilizations instead of new ones.

Just one?!

I'm going to have to go with The Defector. It's the perfect blend of internal character-driven drama (with Jarok) and external conflict-driven drama (with all the political intrigue and the threat of interstellar war).

Always good to see another Masks lover, we're few and far between and have to stick together.

Yeah "Masks" was pretty cool. I have a passing interest in ancient cultures (much prefer paleontology) and once I figured out what was going on I was glad that it wasn't going to be another generic "villain of the week" episode. In fact, any episode involving some mythological/archaeological aspect for Picard to drool over is cool in my book.

I also loved how Picard was confident enough in his own anthropology skillz to bet that he could beat the situation by playing along with it.

Jean-Luc Picard is the Indiana Jones of space.

A tough choice, but I'll go with Parallels. I'm not normally an alternate universe fan but I think this eposide was very well done.
