Children of the Kings by Dave Stern is now out and about waiting for you to pick it up and enjoy all it has to offer. Aside from that, it's the last original novel for the next few months.

amazon hasn't shipped yet, but is getting it ready, it says...no rush, I have about ten books ahead of it...

I've got it, but unfortunately along with "Unspoken Truth" and "Seven Deadly Sins" it has to wait until exam revision period is over.

I'm a Pike fan so this looks interesting. I always like to get more books that take place in the various "lost era's" in between the shows. Hopefully it's better than Inception...

Can't wait to read this. Have to try it with the Bruce Greenwood Pike in my mind as he was FABULOUS as Pike.

I got mine this morning! I'm really looking forward to completely devouring it.

ETA: looks like the ref to NCO Colt as an Ensign was a one-off, tho the spelling of Ilyria as "Illyria" and as a colony I suspect was due to an old error at Memory Beta.

LOVING what I've read thus far, especially Spock and Number One.

I think you will enjoy the book and the portrayal of Pike. I feel he was more in sync with Greenwood/Pike.

If you liked DR. Boyce from the pilot episode, you will really like this book. He plays a major part and is every bit the emotional DR we all loved in Leonard McCoy.

The Orions are very much like their appearance in Borderland and Bound episodes from Enterprise. The Males are portrayed as huge hulking brutes and powerful warlords and the females as intelligent and desirous of leadership. It also touches on the history of the Orions and once having a powerful empire.

Overall I would give it 4/5.
