Re: 'Avatar 2' Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Eywa as the product of genetic engineering and the floating mountains as machinery for moving the entire planet (when necessary) are fairly obvious SF ideas to follow. The Pandoran way of life can be how an advanced civilization found a kind of immortality compatible with a sustainable culture. The original Pandoran culture could have left lots of machinery around the other moons.

Another obvious SF idea to follow would be human pursuit of Pandoran immortality tech. Or the possible spread of Pandoran soul trees to Earth, on the grounds that the best defense is a good offense.

Earth sending the real military for revenge or deciding to start ripping the floating mountains out of the sky is too obvious I think.

The best would be something not obvious but still logical.
With a story that appealed to the emotions too, of course.
But there's no need to insult the intellect (excessively anyhow) to appeal to the emotions.

It's gonna be a comedy about Jake and Neytiri getting pregnant and raising a baby.

Re: 'Avatar 2' Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

I'm personally looking forward to the novel that Cameron is apparently writing right now and hinted that it could be out towards the end of this year. What I'm confused about though is that he stated at first that it would be a novelization of the movie then said it would be a prequel touching on events mentioned in the movie and exploring the back story of the first film. Either way I'm looking forward and will probably buy whatever he writes. Hopefully it will come out this year like he says...maybe alongside the ultimate edition release of the movie in November.

it has been confirmed by actor Stephen Lang (Colonel Miles Quaritch). In an interview with a private news channel, the actor confirmed the news that Cameron would sit down with his Avatar 2 script once he completes the movie adaptation of Battle Angel Alita.

surely a few years away... since
Battle Angel (2011) is slated for 2011 but probably will be released in 2012-2013...

Maybe the sequel will have a decent plot.
It'll have to - the first film borrowed pretty much everyone else's!

I will believe anything Cameron said if/when a sequel comes out.

So there will have to be roles for Bill Paxton and Michael Biehn, right?

Avatar 2 is projected to hit theaters in December 2014,
If Cameron decides to film the two sequels concurrently, as he is thinking of doing, the second sequel would come out in December 2015.

Yes, Michael Biehn plays Jake Sully's father, the retired Sergeant Major Sully. He's brought in by the company to talk his "terrorist" son down. Or at least that's what he's been told. In reality, he's used to lure Jake into a trap. After both Sullys manage to escape that trap, he threatens the company's CEO (played by Bill Paxton) to go public about what really happens on Pandora. As a result he's murdered on the CEO's orders... which gets Jake really, really mad.

I hope Cameron comes up with something less clichéd than that. But maybe not. It will have great special effects though.

the filmmaker plans to shoot at a higher frame rate than 24 frames per second – the universal cinematic frame rate.
I want to get rid of the motion artifacting associated with 24 frame display. Because movies are way behind, they’re a century out of date.”

“48, 60, 72, we’re looking at the efficacy of the different ones and different solutions. The projectors can do it right now, the projectors can run at 144hrz but they’re still displaying 24 frames content at 144hrz.

Re: 'Avatar 2' Casting, Rumors, Pics till release

Doug Trumbull tried to get this very idea off the ground decades ago as "Showscan" - the problem then was that exhibitors would have had to bear the cost of replacing all their projection equipment.

Because 3D is currently driving a switch-over to digital delivery in theaters across the country, this is no longer a problem. Thanks to Cameron, again.
