Storyline sounds like a mix between Space - Above and Beyond and Verhoeven's Starship Troopers. edit Not that fanfilms are bad. You know. Ah, nevermind.

As I think Ebert has argued, it helps to judge projects while taking into account the resources, intent and target audience. "Fan films" themselves come in for both a great deal of praise and a great deal of derision, both appropriate and otherwise.
