I have to admit that I have a problem with "adult" content. Until now, I've stuck with the family fare, and not the Addams Family, either. But here's an entry that I'll incljde eext week snce I've already posted a njmber of lists this week:

Star Trek: Dark Frontier
(Warning: “Mature" Content)
Reclamation,” the last in a five-part series

Re: Upcoming Productions for March/April/May

I haven't watched it, but I know that it's their final Trek show, and then they are going completely independent. I have a soft spot for them at the moment since they have a trackback system and told me they got 200 visitors from my website in their last report (no time period given) and they just gave me a link back... love those link backs! (And thank you for all the ones you've given me!)

And I also have much less trouble with shows like theirs which are clearly labeled Adult Content than with shows that have the content and no label. I have about a dozen items in Star Trek Restricted, and none of the others were labeled. I just started looking at the others so that I could properly place them in STR and was confronted with pornographic material.

For all I know, I still have another dozen items on Star Trek Reviewed that will be moved to Star Trek Restricted. I ask for people to alert me about these things, but most of the time I have to find it myself. I think I've been alerted once, and that was in fact Dark Frontier, and by one of their people.

Sam Wich has a warning at Star Trek: New Homelands for my website saying the content had not all been reviewed. He was going to take it down when I created Star Trek Restricted, but I urged him to not do that. There is still a lot of stuff I just haven't watched. I've watched almost none of the parody stuff, for example. I've watched nothing which is "Part I of X" either.

Of course, everything that appears in Fan Film Friday has been watched and cleared by you. But my website is an index first, and I don't wait to watch things to index them.

If you want to add "No release date given" things, expected before the end of the year and family friendly, I'd also add:
Star Trek: The Romulan War Part 3
Star Trek Requirius Parts 2 and 3
Star Trek: Counter Worlds 1st Episode

That's a good idea, Barb. I'll dig up their websites so people can check on their progress.

Oops! Sorry, I've got that (but, you knew I had that, right)

Oh, and in the "Already Out" catagory, you can add two animations by DMAC6806 at Go!Animate, which are more easily watched from my website than his (what else is new?)... Star Trek: Kobayachi Maru, based on a novel by Julia Ekler, and Star Trek: In They Image. My brand new webpage for DMAC6806 is http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/63.html

Re: Upcoming Productions for March/April/May

Maybe I mistyped. Counter Worlds hasn't released it's first episode in full yet. the segments it has released (Parts 1, 2, and 3.1) have been out for a while. However in a private e-mail the creator/filmmaker has told me he expected it would be completed some time this year and have a public airing at a convention.

He wants to stay with G and PG13 rated stuff, so, that's it. It's in this thread, so, somebody looking can find it.

Or, they can go to Star Trek Reviewed, and find all of the fan films I've located...

Re: Upcoming Productions for March/April/May

Two things:

Captain Randy Hall wrote: View Post
Hi, folks! Like the rest of you, I enjoy watching Star Trek and other science-fiction works that are made by us, the fans.

With that in mind, I write a weekly column called Fan Film Friday at SciFiPulse.net. And I don't only cover films, but audio productions, animations, and "fascinating" uses of other formats. And I try to mix the Trek eras as well as formats.

For example, this week I looked at a very good example of what some folks call "Teen Trek," with links to take you to enjoy the independent production Star Trek:Eagle yourself at http://scifipulse.net/?p=21759.

So if you've got a new fan production coming out, contact me at randyihall@aol.com and I'll review earlier fan efforts, as well as hopefully running a preview of your project.

If you do a search at SciFiPulse, you'll see I've covered a lot of cool Trek and during the Christmas season, I did a holiday special that included "Twas the Dark Knight Before Christmas," which was a hoot when Santa Claus appeared in the Batcave.

I'm always looking for new (or classic) fan films to review. With that said, I hope you'll take a look at some interesting material from fellow fans or let me know where I can find it. LINK
I'm quite confused as to why he seems to adamant about ignoring Lost Frontier, when he has been reviewing other audio productions such as Star Trek: Defiant and Star Trek: Excelsior.

By his own admission, Captain Randy Hall hasn't even listened to the series, so how would he even know if the series is PG-13 or not?

From that same thread, on the first page:

One of my goals is to have fan productions that don't fall into the generic live-action mode, so at least once a month, I will discuss a format and Trek era that are different from the week before and the one after.

I've heard good things about Section 31 and Lost Frontier, so I'll check them out under the concept of reviewing story arcs since there are only 26 hours in a day (if I'm living on DS9) as well as animations and other concepts out there.
I'm certainly not suggesting he listen to ALL 15 released episodes at once, but being that the average length of a Lost Frontier show is about 20 minutes, it's rather difficult to believe that there's not enough time in the day for that.

From the very first post of *this* thread:

Captain Randy Hall said:
And who knows what else is out there!

I like the idea of a calendar-like list so those who like fan films can find out what’s coming by checking this thread. Yeah, I realize I’m volunteering to put in any calendar we get.

But I also have a selfish reason for all this: I write the Fan Film Friday weekly column at SciFiPulse.net, and it would be wonderful to be able to plan ahead with all this cool stuff!
So, essentially, he wants to know about other fan films and fan productions currently in production or about to be released.

Lost Frontier is currently prepping it's second "season" of shows, to be released soon.

I don't understand why, after being informed of this, no mention has been included.

This doesn't even begin to include how Star Trek: The Section 31 Files has been likewise largely ignored.

If, as I am assuming we are supposed to believe, Captain Randy Hall is to be the go-to source for fan-film reviews, it strikes me as rather short-sighted to be so dismissive of two of the (arguably) highest quality audio productions in the fan-film world.

Re: Upcoming Productions for March/April/May

So, Just add it to this thread yourself! I have stepped into things which I never intended to. You don't never know where bodies are buried.

I cheerfully suggested a few weeks ago that new productions might send preview copies to Randy to encourage him to do reviews of them. I did not know he and Farragut had some kind of history. I found myself in the middle of a firefight.

I love Farragut, and I wish they would put out more live action shows. But I also enjoy a good review. And I understand that reviews talk about what is good about a film, and what is not so good. Randy's format does that expressly, since it take the form of "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly." This makes for an entertaining review. But he also has to say something bad.

Mine is more topical, but in many ways less flexible. I have specific subjects on which the film can score between 0 and 1, --1. writing, 2. directing, 3. acting, 4. editing, 5. CGI, costuming, sets, and special effects, 6. entertainment value, 7. whether it makes a point of some kind, and 8. whether it requires more suspension of disbelief than Trek generally. with a maximum raw score of 8, but that can be adjusted up or down by certain factors. Mixing in other franchises, poor quality of sound and film, can lower the score, and just spectacular results in some areas, worthy or more than the 1 point maximum, can raise it. This raw score is then translated into a score of 1 to 5, so I wind up giving some films I liked a lot lower scores than films I enjoyed less, because objectively, I can't ignore stuff that doesn't really matter to me, but matters to others... like spectacular CGI (I don't care) and I can't cut as many points as I might like for too much suspension of disbelief. Anyway, I think Randy's reviews are a lot more amusing to read than mine are, and I think he probably has many more readers than I do. That means, for the less well known productions, his reviews are more important than mine are.

So, just post in this thread when a new episode of your favorite audio production is coming out, and help others find it, whatever Randy and I do. Maybe Randy will give it a listen if you just keep at it, and it will eventually get the benefit of a review, too.

Re: Upcoming Productions for March/April/May

I see what you are saying.

However, I've mentioned Lost Frontier twice. I've linked to it for him. It is simply a matter of him listening to one episode.

Barring even that, he can't be arsed to include it in his listing of "Upcoming Productions with No Release Date" section, which I find rather bizarre as I've informed him --here, publicly-- that the show is still in production but will be having episodes release soon.

So, just post in this thread when a new episode of your favorite audio production is coming out, and help others find it, whatever Randy and I do. Maybe Randy will give it a listen if you just keep at it, and it will eventually get the benefit of a review, too.
Pretty sure I've done that.

Just list it yourself under his lists and don't worry about it. If you list it yourself, people who look at this thread for new stuff will still come.
