Ridley is merely making a film using a lot of the Alien ideas and designs, but not the 'xenomorph' itself.
I've yet to see any evidence that the xenomorph will not be in Prometheus.
LOL, is that the standard of evidence these days? If so, there is no evidence yet that there are no flying unicorns in the film either.

Well, you were the one who said it wasn't going to be in the film. How do you know that?

For the record, I don't believe I ever said it would be in the film, either.

Here's a short new viral video for Prometheus concerning Weyland Industries and androids:

The new Ripley? She spends the second half of the movie a total wreck!

Does anyone have a link (or know where to look for one) to the trailer that doesn't use YouTube?
Usually apple has all movie trailers for download in HD.
Apple.com or itunes software.
I've tried Apple.com but it doesn't work either.

Try here and scroll down a bit.
That's just another embedded YouTube video.

And this is different from Ripley (in "Alien")... How?

You saw the movie? What site did you bootleg it from?

Oh, and does anybody else think she looks exactly like Kathleen Quinlan?

You mean Kathleen I-spent-part-of-my-teenage-years-thinking-she-was-the-hottest-thing-since-sliced-bread Quinlan? Yep.

How? I take Scott and Lindelof (the writer) at their word:
http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/awards-c...-of-prometheus

I read this thing and we went in and had a meeting and he was already clearly saying, 'I want to come back to the genre. I want to do Sci-Fi again, but I think this movie is too close to 'Alien.' I've done this stuff before, but there are big ideas in that are unique in and of itself.' And I said, 'Well, I think that's what we have to do because if there was a sequel to this movie we are working on, which eventually became 'Prometheus,' it would not be 'Alien.' Normally that's a definition of a prequel is it precedes the other movie."

After making a dig at George Lucas' "Star Wars" franchise, Lindelof continues, "Often there is an inevitability to watching a prequel. So, If the ending of this movie is just going to be the room that John Hurt walks into that has eggs there is nothing interesting in that. We know how it's going to end. So, this movie will hopefully contextualize the original 'Alien' so maybe you know a bit more, but you don't [expletive] around with that movie. If were successful enough to even do a sequel to 'Prometheus it will tangentialize even further away from the original 'Alien.'"

Thanks for the direct reply, but nothing in the article you linked, including the passage you quoted and the parts you highlighted, answers the question, or provides any evidence one way or the other.

However, thanks for linking to the article, which did say...

Children of Men is a good movie. It reminds me a lot of the Charlton Heston sci-fi stuff like Soylent Green. In fact, you could easily switch out Clive Owen for Charlton and the movie would still work.
Not my favourite, but Soylent Green is a bit of nostalgia for me and I've seen it more than once. Definitely on the rental list now, thanks.

Hopefully this will be the last of my derailment: they're making another Lethal Weapon movie? Damn Gibson must be desperate.

I haven't read the magazine, but from the looks of it that's just a reunion interview featuring Gibson and Glover. I haven't heard anything about Lethal Weapon 5 in quite some time.

Besides, the version they made on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is definitive.
