Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I've been playing it a few days. I think I found my first game breaking glitch I'm on the side quest at the dinosaur statue where you find out who kidnapped the sniper's wife and then have to take them with you in front of the dinosaur so the sniper can kill them. I talked to all the people and found out who did it. But when I go to talk to her, I don't have the dialogue option to get her to follow me. I've tried putting the sniper beret on and off. The option doesn't come up.

So I did go back at night and I still didn't get the dialogue option to get her to follow me... I think it's a bug.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

OK it finally worked. I just had to wait for several hours at a time, first to make her appear, then to get the dialogue option, then to get him to shoot her. Yeesh. But now I have my first companion!

I never really used Boone. Was trying to stay on good terms with all the factions for as long as possible, so I didn't want him around going apeshit on every Legion member we came across, as he shoots them on sight.

OK I finally got to the Strip and met Yes Man. At this point, the game froze twice in a row in the space of an hour. Thank god I save constantly!

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I'm a bad boy... I'm a Level 30 now

You need Speech of 30 or the perk Confirmed Bachelor. You must also be on the good side of NCR. Go to HELIOS One and the lady should automatically talk to you. Once she allows you access HELIOS One, you should be able to start the mission "That Lucky Old Sun". Follow the mission and talk to Fantastic and Ignacio Rivas. While talking to Rivas make sure you get him to reveal that he's a Follower of the Apocalypse by using Speech or Confirmed Bachelor and agree with his ideals about peace or just say you're neutral. Do the mission regularly until you get to the point where you activate the Mainframe Terminal. Configure the Power Grid to "5) Full Region (Emergency Output Level). Finish the mission by hitting the Reflector Control Panel outside on top of the tower. Go back to Ignacio Rivas and choose the option "I overloaded the plant. No one.....". The glitch is that the option never disappears, so you can choose to keep pressing it. You get 350XP, 3 Stimpacks, and 2 Doctor's Bag

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

OK using the infinite experience glitch is actually a devil in disguise. Playing the rest of the game with no chance of advancement is pretty boring. All I have to look forward to is better weapons and armor. Don't do it! Or at least, only go up 5 levels!

And really, the game is super easy anyway. It's probably why they made the perks come once per two levels.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

I just gave myself 10 in every stat and 100 in every skill right off the bat so I could do and experience everything in one playthrough and not have to worry about stuff like "oh no I have to go level up this skill more before I can pass this speech check!" I pity the non-PC foo' who doesn't have access to console commands.

Re: Fallout: New Vegas

BTW can someone please tell me why there isn't a single loading screen actually ON the Strip? If I want to warp to the NCR Embassy I have to warp to Freeside Strip entrance, then walk through three different Strip screens before I get to the damn office!
