Genre babe of the week: Fill out your MARCH MADNESS 2010 brackets now!

So are we going to have a GBOW of the Decade run-off between Jessica Alba, Monica Bellucci, Anne Hathaway and the 2009 winner in a year's time?

I like your thinking on that Vulcan.

We should probably include a few other babes that finished towards the top. *cough* Kate *cough*
Simply put, here is every "genre babe of the week" who has qualified for the postseason over the last four years and the eight highest-rated who didn't make it into their respective tournament (which does not mean the overall top 64 since each year's tournament had different qualifying standards based on the contestants and how you voted). They're going to battle it out. And you're going to predict the winner.

Each correct selection in the first round is worth one point, in the second round is worth two points, in the third round is worth four points and so forth.

If someone finishes in first place overall (ahead of me), he or she will get to pick SIX "genre babes of the week" that will appear later this year. If he or she is first by default (meaning I actually placed first), then it's down to the usual THREE selections.

What I'll need you to fill out on your bracket besides your predictions are:

1. Your screen name.

2. Tiebreaker No. 1 -- How many votes will the champion win by? Just give me a number. But you must pick the correct championship matchup and winner in order for it to be valid.

3. Tiebreaker No. 2 -- Which first round matchup will have the closest margin of victory and what will the number be? Give me the number and the matchup. Again, you must pick the right winner.

Take your time to fill out your bracket, but I'll need it by Febuary 28. The easiest way to do it is to download it, make your predictions, upload it to an image server like Photobucket, ImageShack, ImageVenue or TinyPic and PM the link to me.

In the rare case of a tie during any round (like what happened in 2008), I'm flipping a coin and that is the end of the discussion. Heads is the higher seed, tails is the lower seed. And anyone who picked that actress to advance gets the point(s).

The tournament will begin just before midnight Eastern Standard Time on March 1 (since it'll take me a while to post all the threads, hopefully the final poll will be up by midnight), so you've got less than 28 days to fill out a bracket and turn it in.

Good luck!

FILL OUT THIS BRACKET:

Why not give both a point?

First time I sent a bracket in, wonder how I'll do.

Some difficult decisions there.

Is the coin flip the end of the discussion? Or the statement made here? Cause I like Roger's idea. Points for both sides of the tie, but still advance the winning lady by coin flip.

Or whatever. I'll end up losing by a handful of points wither way.

EDIT:

Oh, and Scarlett Johansson vs Rachel Nichols second round? WTF?!

Gillian Anderson vs Kate Beckinsale first round ... WTF

Arghh!!!

How about nobody gets a point for a tie? That's the exact same result. But after the 2008 debacle, I'm prepared for ties to never happen again. This was just a statement of what would happen in the case of a tie.

The people who are on the winning side are luckier anyway because they have a chance to score even more points in the later rounds, I just don't think it fair to award a point for a coin toss.

This is a lot of worrying over nothing. There won't be any ties. Trust me on this one.

Well, there are 123 duels in this contest, that's a lot of opportunity for ties.

Hmm, do I have to start doubting the integrity of the Genre Babe competitions?...

You're wondering about integrity in a competition where a lot of people can't be bothered to vote for every matchup? Where Anne Hathaway was facing Odette Yustman in the first round and one person voted for both of them?

No, that would have been the case if a bunch of people had voted for Mickey Rourke "by accident".

I can't blame whoever that was, it's a tough choice.

Well I'm definitely have to think this thing through. A couple of match-ups are gonna be pretty damn close.
