That ending is fantastic, especially if everyone survives.

Hell, the whole game has an epic quality to it.

Not going to spoil it, but who else loved that last conversation wheel?

Re: Mass Effect 2

You mean the absolutely final one? What's ironic is that the same choice in ME1 is the Renegade choice.

Thinking of taking a Sentinel through Insanity difficulty and could use some advice of which Loyalty ability to tag.

I hear that Warp Ammo is pretty good as well as one of the shield powers.

Yeah, Warp Ammo seems like a great all purpose ability, and it'd be handy to have an extra offensive capability since the Sentinel already has great survivability.

Re: Mass Effect 2

REAVE! Sentinels should get Reave. Everyone should get Reave. I got the Justicar's ability last in my playthrough and I wish I didn't do that.

I thought about Warp ammo, but the ability to deal damage and stop regeneration is invaluable and it's much more powerful than the Sentinel's Warp default ability.

As long as you keep moving during combat and don't just hunker down/spray fire randomly, you constantly get new heat sinks from dead enemies.
The viability of that depends on the fight. There's been several fights where the only cover's at one end of the room, and the enemies keep coming in through doors on the other end. There's nowhere to move to. (Tali's loyalty mission springs to mind.)

Now, admittedly, I've only played through about 3/4 of the game so far, but I have yet to encounter a firefight where I actually had to resort to elbowing the badguys to death.
I haven't had to elbow them, but I have had to use a sniper rifle at point-blank range. (Or I could've used my heavy weapon on husks, I suppose, but that seemed like overkill that was liable to bite me on the butt when I met the boss...)

I believe everything about the combat in ME2 is 100% better than that of ME1. I no longer dread getting in a shootout and pray for a dialogue resolution.
Out of curiosity: what class are you playing? I'm playing as a soldier - which means no powers - which might have something to do with our approach differences...
I'm an Infiltrator, Miranda is always in my squad and I rotate the second slot (usually someone equipped with a Collector assault rifle). I headshot most badguys before they even get into proper firing position and with the Widow anti-materiel rifle I picked up in Ghost Ship, only armored Krogan and the heavier Geth/Collector units actually manage to get within pistol range occassionally now.

Spamming squadmates tech/biotics (they react quickly on auto-fire, but not necessarily with the best targeting or combination attack as already mentioned) and my cloaking assassination shots of special ammo pretty much pwns the baddies on hardcore. My next run will be on Insanity, which is hopefully not as tedious as it was in ME1.

hree-four head shots to take down baddies whose tactics don't improve instead of 1-2 is more a boring slog than a challenge. Some day someone will develop a game where the difficulty slider also makes the badguys smarter, not just more heavily armed and armored.

There's a way to get the Dr. Pepper DLC if you missed that XBL screw up when the game launched.

Re: Mass Effect 2

I just realized credits are a big problem. Your ability to spend them is unlimited but your ability to earn them isn't. Having completed all the missions I hit a wall upgrading my weapons.

I did a little snooping trying to find work in the uncharted sectors but they're disappointingly desolate. All those scans telling me about planets with miners and pirates and mercs and slavers and geth and they only let me land on one (for a rescue mission that lasted all of two minutes). Worse is all the money I spent on fuel and probes to do it.

Space feels much, much emptier than ME1.

Yeah that happened to me too at the end. Still had a few upgrades to buy but no way of earning more credits. One problem was that in a few places I had bought stuff from stores BEFORE I had talked to the shopkeeper and used charm to get a discount. Could've saved myself several thousand credits if I had remembered to do that at every store.

I was kinda hoping that the stores on the Citadel would realize they were all using the same exact marketing campaign after a while. That would have been hysterical.

It probably would have helped if I'd done some endorsements but I can't bring myself to do it. I have this horrible vision of Shepard turning into the Krusty the Clown of the ME universe. Plus it feels rather dirty reducing the savior of the Citadel to pimping space hamsters.

It would solve a lot of problems if I could just sell some of the elements I'd mined. I've got a freakin' quarter million units of some of them.

Re: Mass Effect 2

They probably did that on purpose, making you choose which upgrades to prioritize.

You'd probably want the ones for your primary weapons, the health/shield upgrades, the medi-gel, the heavy weapon upgrade, and the biotic/tech power upgrades in that order. Skipping the shotgun and sniper upgrades, I picked up everything I needed.
