Dumbass Japanese and Greenpeace ramming in Australian waters!!

WFT are these idiots doing in Aussie waters!?

GTFO and go home you *%#holes

Greenpeace and their ships, we all know they are radical, they don't listen to other opinions, Greenpeace are hippie blockheads they are almost like religious extremists
sickening that no Australian gov has the balls to actually do something about the whole situation.
Hippes go home!

Japan, they absolutely concreted over 85% their whole country and bleed all their oceans dry. Their is nothing left in Japan, barely an wildlife, very little fish, very little marine mammals its all been over hunted, over fished and eaten. That's why civilisation came up with the concept of "farming" so animal stocks wouldn't be driven into extinction.
What does Japan do? Do they fish farm? No
Do I give a flying f#ck if they eat Whale in their own backyard - not really? To be honest I don't give a damn what anyone puts in their mouth
That's their business
However what gets me is
They f#ck up their own Oceans, then after they are finished f#cking up their own backyard in Japan, they sail half way across the world to sh#t all over Australia's backyard.

I hope the Aussie Navy gets off their ass and goes out and blows both the hippies and the Japanese out of the water.

Both of these guys have absolutely no discipline, no professionalism. If an Australian or US or whatever ship has to go down and attempted to rescue these blockhead idiots and gets injured rescuing these fools then I hope both the Japanese and the hippies are thrown in jail and don't see the light of day for a long while.

Rules of the Ocean are there to protect everyone
Break them and I hope someone breaks you

I imagine if they were trying this crap off the coast of Scotland, Alaska or California the US Navy and Brit would not treat them with kid gloves.
Aussie gov = spineless
or else something corrupt is going on. Are they Japanese and WhaleWars paying off Aus with bribes?

>>sorry for the rant<<

but both these people p*ss me off

Are you referring to this?

The founder of the Sea Shepherds left Greenpeace in the late 70's because they wouldn't take direct action.

The story makes it sound like the encounter was taped by the Japanese and places the blame on the other boat.

Japan is engaged in illegal whaling, and if the proper authorities won't do anything about it, let the Sea Shepherds deal with them. No one wants to enforce the law on the high seas? Then the vigilant will rule.

I was trying to avoid spoilers for the next season of Whale Wars but so much for that...

I watched the AP video attached to the news story linked above. It's hard to tell because the cameraman on the Japanese ship is zoomed in, but it looks to me like the Ady Gil's crew's version is more accurate. They definitely appear to be idling and it looks like the Japanese ship turns towards them.

Rule 14 and 15 of the International Maritime Navigation Rules:

RULE 14 - HEAD-ON

RULE 15 - CROSSING SITUATIONS
Rule 14

(a) Unless otherwise agreed [Inld] When two power-driven vessels are meeting on reciprocal or nearly reciprocal courses so as to involve risk of collision each shall alter her course to starboard so that each shall pass on the port side of the other.
(b) Such a situation shall be deemed to exist when a vessel sees the other ahead or nearly ahead and by night she could see the masthead lights of the other in a line or nearly in a line and/ [Intl] or both sidelights and by day she observes the corresponding aspect of the other vessel.

(c) When a vessel is in any doubt as to whether such a situation exists she shall assume that it does exist and act accordingly.

(d) Notwithstanding paragraph (a) of this Rule, a power-driven vessel operating on the Great Lakes, Western Rivers, or waters specified by the Secretary, and proceeding downbound with a following current shall have the right-of-way over an upbound vessel, shall propose the manner of passage, and shall initiate the maneuvering signals prescribed by Rule 34(a)(i), as appropriate. [Inld]

Rule 15

When two power-driven vessels are crossing so as to involve risk of collision, the vessel which has the other on her own starboard side shall keep out of the way and shall, if the circumstances of the case admit, avoid crossing ahead of the other vessel.

(b) Notwithstanding paragraph (a), on the Great Lakes, Western Rivers, or water specified by the Secretary, a power-driven vessel crossing a river shall keep out of the way of a power-driven vessel ascending or descending the river. [Inld]

The Japanese ship certainly did not do this. Not saying Ady Gil wasn't dangerously close by their own doing, but the Japanese ship clearly (in their own video!) made no attempt to steer clear.

QFT. Capt. Watson is horribly incompetent but a charismatic fundraiser. The "shooting" incident was obviously and laughably faked. The heroic lawman saved by his own badge...

Yes they do. Japan had one of the world's largest domestic aquaculture sectors.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

In this video on CNN.com, there's no doubt that the Japanese ship turned into Ady Gil.

Yup

Most of Japanese expensive suishi actually comes from the US waters or EU/Iclelandic waters
I don't agree with the hippies or their dumbass philosphy or tactics but facts are Japan has already dumped all over its own yard

Fish stocks in their own back yard have almost collapsed

If there were so many Whales and other Marine mammals off the coast of Japan, then why the hell are they going half way across the world to hunt down whale in Aussie water??

Here's a sample on some of the news reports:

[Industrial fishing has cut populations of large fish in the oceans to a mere 10 per cent of 1950 levels, says the study, published Wednesday in Nature magazine. The devastating decline affects open ocean species such as tuna, swordfish and marlin, and groundfish such as cod, halibut and flounder."Our analysis suggests that the global ocean has lost more than 90 per cent of large predatory fishes," study authors Ransom Myers and Boris Worm of Dalhousie University say.]

['Bluefin tuna is collapsing as we speak and yet the fishery will kick off for business as usual,' said Sergi Tudela, of WWF.]

[ The longest migrator of any fish species, an Atlantic northern bluefin can travel from New England to the Mediterranean, then turn around and swim back; in the Pacific, the northern bluefin can make a round-trip journey from California to Japan. The fish can weigh in at 1,500 pounds and, in an instant, pick up speed to fifty-five miles per hour. But today the fish is the target of the insatiable sushi market, particularly in Japan, where an individual piece can go for seventy-five dollars. Ellis introduces us to the high-stakes world of “tuna ranches,” where large schools of half-grown tuna are caught in floating corrals and held in pens before being fattened, killed, gutted, frozen, and shipped to the Asian market]

[ We must learn from the Canadian cod lesson. Naval backing may even be necessary where rogue fishermen are concerned.]

[ "Bluefin tuna has become the poster boy for the overfishing campaign. It's on the buffers - it's really on the slide down now," Clover says."There are no large tuna anymore. There were bluefins of 250lb in Japanese fish markets when I went there four years ago - there are none now. ]

[ The collapse of Atlantic cod stocks, far from being an unusual disaster, is typical of what's happening to large fish around the world, a major study has found.]

and Japan?

Business as usual

Ok, enlighten me Mr Japanophile.
Why did people come up with farming?

Was it so they didn't have to go hunting across rivers and jungles to catch their breakfast?
Was it took keep their stock (food source) protected?

F#CK the Hippes
F#CK the Japanese

I hope the Aussie ships go out and patrol and start opening fire on some of these idiots

I also heard on a reliable news website that Japanese were using ultra-sonics and a laser light to distract a Helicopter pilot
FederalAviationAdministration would go down hard against that.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal no matter what country you live in

Don't know if they did it again, but during Season 2 of Whale Wars the Japanese used an LRAD (acoustic weapon) against the Sea Shepherd's helicopter (and ship and boats).

Both craft broke navigation protocol. BOTH should have turned to avoid the colision. Therefore, both evil whalers and hippy-dippy kelp huggers are equally at fault.
