So I have to admit that I was hoping JRN would do better than she currently is.
Me too, though with this board I'm not surprised at the result.
How so?

Well, the simple explanation is the board lacks my exquisite taste in women.

In a more specific sense there is a huge "geek quotient" (TM) on this board as well as a number of other factors that are likely unique to the folk here.

I think the latter is the real explanation. We(geeks) in general tend to be loyal to our shows. If we take to an actor or two we then follow them around to other shows even if its not sci-fi(eg Boston Legal-Shat, CASTLE-Fillon, BONES-Boreanaz).

When it comes to some peoples vote for GBOW they go with a high vote for Firefly,ST or nuBSG(especially tourney time) over others.

I didn't watch Eastwick and am frankly so-so on Eureka but she is gorgeous, imo, so I went thumbs up even though she wasn't STS9.

BSG hasn't fared too well outside of Grace Park. Tricia Helfer's score wouldn't have been good enough for the 2008 and 2009 tournaments, and Katee Sackhoff was panned. Mary McDonnell was actually rejected by some people even though she was never considered!

Of the Trek actors, Jolene Blalock and Linda Park were panned, Zoe Saldana scored well but didn't qualify, and Jeri Ryan was highly rated but didn't last very long in the tournament.

Firefly is the anomaly, with a weak 2008 final four that was half Firefly (though the weakness was more Staite than Glau).

You can still love the show and not vote for a person in the show just because the person is in the show. Makes no sense.

Thumbs down. Looks like some random person I would pass on the sidewalk.

Damn, I got to move my ass to Anaheim!
No shit. It reminds me of when somebody said that Summer Glau just looked like any random high school girl. I work at a high school, and I wouldn't call Summer Glau representative of the girls there by a long shot.

But people do it anyway. Thus all the Firefly backlash in a previous GBOW thread.

Summer Glau

I have also noticed some people vote Thumbs Up literally every week. There could be a picture of a cactus and they would vote thumbs up. We need more Yodas!

Hint for the next GBOW (don't answer directly):

Was named "Cyber Vixen of the Year" at Spike TV's Video Game Awards in 2005 for her role in "From Russia With Love."
