Anyone see this new show on ABC?

Imagine "Malcolm in the Middle" only somehow make it less funny.

Boom. You've got it.

It'd be pretty craptastic on its own but the fact that it also stars Patricia Heaton only elevates it to a new plane of suckitude. I'm surprised ABC didn't can it when it got rid of Hank and Eastwick.

Yeah, I didn't like "Hank" at all, but it was much better than "The Middle".

Wow, I'm surprised by the hate. I find it a lot funnier than I expected, even if it is too much of a Malcolm clone. It's one of the few new shows this season I'm still watching, and I hope it gets picked up for a second season, even though the ratings are pretty low.

Re: The Middle

The problem I had from the episode I saw was that it was just so much a Malcolm clone as to almost bring to mind plagerism. You've the castrated dad, the no-nonsense mom, the quirky youngest kid, the look and style of the episode I saw (involving a CPS worker coming to their house) just reminded me very much of "Malcolm in the Middle." And, see, I really like Patricia Heaton but this show somehow made her unattractive and uninteresting.

And, see, what doesn't help is that I didn't like MitM, so a shitty rip-off of it doesn't fare better.

I just don't understand how they can ever advance anything with the story. I like the stuff I watch to have a story and I'm not sure a semi-normal family is going to hold my attention for too long.
