Hunk of the Week 11/25: Noah Wylie

Noah Wyle is an American film, television and theater actor. He is best known for his role as Dr. John Carter on the TV drama ER. He has also played Steve Jobs in the 1999 docudrama "Pirates of Silicon Valley and Flynn Carsen in "The Librarian" TV-movie franchise. Wyle was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People by People magazine in 2001.

After years of working on small films or in bit parts, his big break came with the role of the long-suffering John Carter on "ER." However he has appeared in numerous films, such as Donnie Darko, A Few Good Men, White Oleander and Enough. During his seven years on ER, he was nominated several times for the Screen Actors Guild Award and recognized with three Golden Globe nominations as Best Supporting Actor in a Series.

Wyle devotes much of his free time to the international non-profit organization Doctors of the World and to his work as a member of the Human Rights Watch Council. In 2009, he also also became a spokesman for the World Wildlife Fund, dedicated to protecting and conserving wildlife.

According to a recent press release, Noah Wyle is locked in as the lead in TNT's new sci-fi series from Steven Spielberg. Wyle will play the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians that battle against an alien force, according to the network. The pilot opens shortly after the aliens have decimated the human population, and Wyle's group sets out to find survivors.

I'll give him a thumbs-up, if only because I always had a thing for Carter.

By the way...........

Completely useless trivia. Noah Wylie is one of two stars of hit NBC shows that is married to a former Club MTV dancer. Kelsey Grammer is the other.

He's easy on the eye but I wouldn't call him a hunk. I liked his character in er, and there's that other adventure thing he does the name of which escapes me that I enjoy.

Too tired to scroll up?

That would be The Librarian series. Very silly, but I like it, nonetheless.

11 years. He left the show after 11 full seasons (the last of the original six to leave), then came back here and there until he had a several episode stretch to end the series during season 15.
