You think yours is pretentious, Skywalker? Get a load of this:

And does anyone want to take a stab at assigning a genre to this one?

I've never used Photoshop in my life, so I just add the text by using the limited tools at my disposal on Photobucket -- hence why my covers aren't particularly impressive.

Ah well... I'm still having a lot of fun with these.

Re: Now for some fun: Pick Your Band Name / Album Name / Album Cover

Maybe someone would like to review these two albums for me (as I know next to nothing about music)

The first is by a band named 93. According to the back of the album the number 93 has great significance in Thelema, a religion founded by Aleister Crowley. The picture is "I'm getting wise" by Ariel Chaos.

The second album is by Geir Knutsen, a Norweigan politican who has decided to moonlight as a musician. Picture is "Autumn....with a little Thanksgiving too" by CookieCrazie.

I use the GIMP, go grab a font or two from dafont, then work in some effects.

An easy way to do neat effects with your text:

1. Create a layer for your text.
2. Add the text.
3. Duplicate the text layer.
4. Use a filter--some kind of blur, erode, dilate, etc. Anything that modifies the form of the text.
5. Cycle through the blend modes of the layer. "Grain extract" often produces the most interesting effects.

In fact, you can duplicate your original text layer multiple times, then use different effects and blend modes on each one. You can use it to create shadows, glows, and all sorts of weirdness.

I have no clue what kind of music this is, but I'm sure it's full of itself.

Little Broadcast

The Ability To Enjoy It was an album ahead of its time. The moody electronica of Constant Lock, the speedy synth thrash of Population Model, the plaintive love song Opening Arrangements, the new space rock of Hotel Earth, and the hard hitting solid bass end thump of Little Broadcast (reminiscent of ZZ Top's Antenna Head played by Ultravox) showcase a band at their most inventive and most eclectic. A standout was the acoustic Close Written, and its synth mirror image, Closer Reader. Why this album wasn't given better support by the record label remains a mystery to this day
(Wow, the phrase generator was on fire! I might have to write some of those songs. Set the generator to adjective - very common, noun - very common, or noun, noun)
