What tv shows could exist in the same universe?

I think Lost, Fringe and Alias would probably have no problems fitting together in the same universe.

What other shows could exist in the same universe as each other? You can link as many as you like. It could be two or thirty-two. Well, ok maybe not that many...

Re: What tv shows could exist in the same universe?

We all know that all the different Law & Order series exist in the same universe, but did you know that The X-Files also exists in that same fictional universe?

It's because the character of John Munch, played by Richard Belzer and a main character on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, appeared in one episode of The X-Files.

In fact, the character of John Munch has appeared on multiple shows, always played by Belzer. So, the following shows all exist in the same universe....

Law & Order
Law & Order: Special Vicitms Unit
Law & Order: Criminal Intent
Law & Order: Trial By Jury
Law & Order: Los Angeles
Homicide: Life On the Street
The X-Files
The Beat
Arrested Development
The Wire

So, whenever you watch a Law & Order episode, always remember that things like ghosts and aliens exist in the same universe as Jack McCoy and Elliot Stabler.

I'll make a pre-emptive call for the beating and/or permabanning of the first person (other than in this message, obviously) to mention Tommy fucking Westphal.

Lost, Alias and the JJVerse Trek are all in the same universe.

Quatermass, Dr Who and Blake's 7 are definitely all in the same universe

Well, Cheers, Frasier,Wingsand the short-lived The Tortellis all existed in the same universe. Sounds weird to use the word "universe" for that.

Given that the thread says shows that could exist, I think it would be difficult to place Space: 1999 in the universe of any show that portrays the Moon in orbit after 1999.

I do think that the Irwin Allen shows could exist in the same universe. They are stylistically similar, and have re-used some of the same space and monster suits.

- Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
- The Flash
- Not a show, but Tim Burton's Batman. There was even an episode of Lois & Clark where a collector (played by Jonathan Frakes) had the '89 batmobile in his collection.

Belzer has played cops on a ton of shows... I think they should all be retconned as Munch. That would mean "Law and Order," "X-Files" and "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" are all in the same universe.

CSI, CSI Miami, CSI: NY, Cold Case, and Without a Trace have all had characters crossover. You could probably easily throw any other CBS crime show into the mix without causing problems. I'm actually surprised we haven't seen a Criminal Minds/CSI crossover yet.

Any of the David E Kelley shows could probably co-exist. Ally McBeal had a crossover with The Practice, which in turn begat Boston Legal. Chi McBride, who played the principal from Boston Public, turned up in Legal as his BP character, though other actors appeared in both as different characters.

You could definitely imagine the oddball lawyers from Ally as opposing counsel in a case with the oddball lawyers from Boston Legal.

Most of the popular (and not so popular) NBC comedies of the 1990's were interconnected by having one of their characters make cameo apperances on the other shows, and they all connect back to CHEERS.
