No, not Jessica Simpson. Not even Ashley Simpson.

Marge Simpson. I kid you not.
Heh - I didn't even need the "Not her, and not her" bit. When I saw your thread title, the first thing I thought was, "Well, it probably isn't Homer since it's Playboy, so that would be Marge."

Sure enough, that was right. I haven't watched The Simpsons in about five years or so, so it isn't like I am constantly thinking Simpsons.

Yeah. Playboy isn't porn. It's glamour photography of nude or semi-nude subjects. It's just not in the same category as magazines like Penthouse or Hustler.

Yes. Once upon a time Playboy was known for its journalism, its interview most notably, and its short fiction, and previews of novels in addition to having better than average glamour photos of hot young things. 'Course, I haven't read the damned thing since they interviewed Christian Slater like fifteen years ago.

I still enjoy occasionally digging through an old one and reading an in depth interview with someone who matted greatly at the time, reading a preview of Fleming's "upcoming" Bond novel, or even seeing what sort of look was had by a grand beauty in 1967.

Re: Simpson poses nude for Playboy

Playboy was once the single greatest short fiction market in America, even over The New Yorker. That was long time ago.

Of course, Penthouse once had great journalism, too--along with photos that were erotic in a way Playboy couldn't touch and artistic in a way Hustler wasn't remotely interested in. Hell, Penthouse spawned Omni, one of the greatest SF magazines that ever existed.

Delightfully so, in my opinion. I like it when artificial constructs like "normal" are challenged. Imagination is the basis of all we truly have.

Why would people pay money to see something they could Google for free? And she'd be doing alot more then just sitting around nekid. Not that I would know anything about that......

Do you think it's a coincidence that Marge Simpson is on the cover and the new CEO's name is Flanders? I think not. Always knew there was something just underneath the surface in those Flanders boys.

Re: Simpson poses nude for Playboy

Not interested. I saw this earlier this morning and pretty much did what the image of Picard is doing that was posted in the first page of this thread. Playboy wants to market to a younger audience? That's fine. Doing an animated character isn't the way to go. Try an A or even B list actress...that will get people's attention. I haven't picked up an issue in at least three years. IIRC my literary history....Playboy was the first to publish Dune wasn't it? I think in one of my old Dune covers it said first published in Playboy Magazine in 1965 or something like that.

Not sure I want to know the kind of men who want to see naked pictures of a cartoon mother of three who's in her 40s.

See I've always thought that Playboy made a mistake moving away from the high end of men's magazines. It's true, why pay for it when you could download it for free if you're just going for tits and ass. Which would make one think that offering more and raising the bar again, while at the same time with a focus on a newer generation and their issues would be the way to go; not just playing to the average.

~shrug~ Then again, the way I see it why settle for "Good enough" in any endeavour.

So what do you have a problem with? That some men who find a cartoon character attractive - or that some men find 40-year old women who have given birth attractive?

More the former than the later, the combination of the two make it a bit odder, but there's nothing necessairly wrong with a mother of three, I know a couple who're fairly fetching.

Hell, I'd go ahead and say (when her hair is down) Marge can be fetching. But for her to be in a magazine like Playboy?!

Yeeeeah...

If I am being totally honest I have had less than noble thoughts about some comic book characters like Black Cat and Catwoman (I guess it's a cat fetish...) or Elven babes from World of Warcraft but even I scoff at anyone who would scrap to Marge Simpson.
