Andy Richter Rules on Jeopardy

Andy Richter kicked all kinds of ass on celebrity Jeopardy. He beat Dana Delany(Who looked very nice) and Wolf Blitzer from CNN. Wolf Blitzer was completely destroyed by the power of the Richter.

Wow, that's not some kind of bit? Andy killed them. I think Burt Reynolds or Sean Connery would have done better than Wolf.

On the Tonight Show the day before it aired they showed the warmup round. Andy cleaned up there, but not nearly as much as he did in the real show.

Re: Andy Richter Rules on Jeopardy

Anybody remember that Celebrity Power Player tournament they had a few years back where they had on people associated with Washington? Mostly journalists with some political people thrown in. Now Celebrity Jeopardy is usually about one level above the kids version. It was absolutely pitiful how utterly ignorant these people were. I mean Bob Woodward got a question about freakin Watergate wrong?

Wow, if they hadn't given Blitzer some sympathy cash, Walter Cronkite would have beaten Blitzer, even with Walter in his current state of being totally bereft of life.

Oh, how I adore Mr. Andy Richter. His sitcom was too cool for school indeed.

Hear, hear. Both of them, in fact.

Norm MacDonald did surprisingly well in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire; maybe have him, Andy, and some other high-winning show person square off. Would be interesting.

No surprise that a stand-up comic is significantly smarter and better-informed than a modern-day cable news anchor. Stand-up comics actually have to think and pay attention to come up with material.

^ Exactly. The comic probably doesn't have his own writers whereas Wolf Blitzer is being told what to say. I remember from my internship with CNN that he had about 50 people working for him behind the scenes that were assigned to specific tasks.

Just watched it on YouTube. Andy may not longer controls the universe, but he sure did control the board.

Not to take away from Andy but Dana and Wolf were probably pretty lucky it was a compartiavely easy night and they weren't up against some of the recent champs (the finalists on the University challenge series were damn smart and I don't think the teenagers/high school students were that far behind).

Do the producers publish the name of the celebrity contestants in advance or is a case of wait and see when the celeb series comes on.

Now if only the CBC would move it Jeopardy to 7pm and wheel of waste-of-time to 7:30.

That never surprised me. I've seen interviews with Norm, and he always struck me as a pretty smart cat. I just wish his film career had gone better.

Re: Andy Richter Rules on Jeopardy

Back in the day, before he quit Conan the first time, he was on Celebrity Jeopardy and it was one of the most epic ass kickings ever. He filmed a little behind the scenes thing about it. While he was back stage he ran in to Brian Denehy, who was one of the competitors, and Denehy was super rude. I think in the middle of the conversation Denehy said something along the lines of "I don't have time to waste with this, unlike you I actually do work for a living." In the end Andy absolutely destroyed him, and on just to rub it in, even though he had like 10x Denehy's score, he bet all his money on final jeopardy. He ended up with the highest money total in the history of Celebrity Jeopardy.
