My Pet Peeve

Every time I see people being thrown around the bridge, or just holding on to something for dear life, I want to scream...

Seat belts were invented and proven useful in the 20th century!!! Why the heck aren't they being used in the 23rd/24th??? Yeah, yeah, I know the action shots wouldn't be as interesting. It still annoys me.

So what is YOUR pet peeve?

We had a looooong debate about seat belts once. I don't think they ever resolved the issue.

I was glad to finally see an Enterprise with multiple warp cores. (Then again they jettisoned all of them anyway in ST09.) Every time the 'lava lamp' went out I wanted to scream, "Where's the damn back up unit?!"

People getting throttled about, I can sort of see anyway, as the ship rocks maybe once every few weeks anyway.

What annoys me, however, are those huge gigantic containers of supplies and possibly hazardous material lounging about in the cargo bay without straps. Yeah, bye bye, Worf's spine!

When a photon torpedo (matter/antimatter warhead with a yield supposed to be measured in megatons) explodes with all the awesome cosmic force of a mortar shell.

Also when people - especially the show's writers - seem to be unable to tell the difference in function between a matter/antimatter reactor, which powers a ship, and the warp nacelles which actually warp space and time and allow the ship to effectively move faster than light.

I am sick and tired of Vulcans always sharing a haircut with Moe Howard of the Three Stooges. Enough already!

MY pet peeve is ships shooting at each other in warp; that's absolutely impossible. It's like boxers punching each other in different time frames.
Impulse & thruster-only battles, please!

Oh, I have another one. I haven't noticed this in DS9/VOY/ENT, but it drives me nuts in TNG: Velocity is NOT a synonym for "speed!"

Data, you know better!

It would work with photon torpedoes, and with ships at warp strafing ships at impulse.

I'm sick of the entire races sharing the same haircut, too! Modern Vulcans and Romulans are the worst offenders (at least women had different haircuts in TOS!).

And those modern Romulan forehead ridges. STUPID.

Though it is kind of weird... when you're in a warp chase scene, relatively speaking, seeing torpedoes travel forward the way they do makes sense, but if fired from a ship's aft launcher (re: being chased) torpedoes shouldn't even be visible! Maybe just a flash from the launcher and BOOM, impact on the chasing vessel.

Oh, dramatic license, how I love thee

The whole armament system is dramatic license, like the propulsion.
