What if Rick Berman died in the car accident?

What if Rick Berman died in the car accident in December 6, 1996, then J.J. Abrams would run the Star Trek franchise in this alternate history.

JJ Abrams would've been 28. Too young to run the Star Trek franchise, IMO.

Not only that, but in 1996 none of what JJ Abrams produced would've been anything that would make him a candidate to replace Rick Berman and take over Star Trek.

If something happened to Rick Berman, Michael Piller would've taken over.

Piller was leaving Trek by this point. Brannon Braga would have taken over.

Re: What if Rick Berman died in the car accident?

Brannon Braga was still an underling for another year. Arguably two.

Michael Piller, who would've been on his way out, would've had a change of heart and would've stayed out of respect for Rick, at least for a little while.

In 1996 TPTB would have reached out to Clint Eastwood, a talented actor and director, to help the franchise by bring his own unique vision and philosophy to the Star Trek universe.

What if Rick had died of crib death shortly after coming home from the hospital?
We wouldn't have had to suffer through ANY of his crap.

So Rick Berman is George Kirk, and the car is the Narada...and JJ Abrams is alternate Jim Kirk, I guess? Is this what we're going for here? Because it's a terribly flawed analogy and not even remotely funny.

Dude, that is just...ugh.

And besides, Berman wasn't even behind most of the stuff you seem to hate so much about later Trek. Most of the bad stuff in VOY and ENT was by HIS bosses.

And Harry Kim would have played sax instead of clarinet, and played it well.
