Superman TAS DVDs

TVShowsOnDVD is now reporting that there will be a complete set of Superman TAS released on DVD Nov. 24th. From the looks of the set it looks like it's just a repackaging of the previously released volumes with an extra Darkseid special.

I've thought about buying these DVDs in the past, and the complete set will be tempting, but there is still one question I have yet to see answered. Does anyone know if the show was originally produced in HD? I know JLA TAS was produced in HD and is now getting Blu Ray releases. If Superman was produced in HD I'd rather wait for the HD release. But if it was only produced in SD then I might as well jump on this set.

Anyone have any information?

Given that it was produced in the late 90s, I strongly suspect it was not made in HD.

Well JLA was produced as soon as Superman finished and it was done in HD. I guess it's possible that was when they made the transition, but I'd love if anyone has a definitive answer either way.

I believe Batman Beyond was produced in-between Superman and Justice League.

Ugh; those double sided discs again. I gave up on Warner a long time ago and went out of the way to buy the Region 4 version of the Superman TAS release so that I could get the single discs. Of course, you need a region free player to pull that off, but my Yamaha came region free out of the box.

As for HD, isn't cell animation generally pretty easy to convert? I know that computer graphics stuff can be a problem (such as in Justice League season one), but I think that cell animation only requires going back to the original film (and to my memory, Superman TAS is completely cell animation). Of course, they would need to employ a thorough cleaning process to make sure dust and the like is out of there.

In any case, I expect that they would concentrate on converting Batman TAS to HD before they ever even thought about Superman.
