Yeah, I was about to say that. Those games can be boring no matter who's playing but then again, so can every game. And at least in case of the better teams there's a good chance you get to see some quality football. I lost interest in club football years ago (or pretend to because the club I originally supported is crap nowadays) so that's how I stay somewhat current.
Yeps It's nice to be the host country (and I have tickets for 2 matches ) but friendly matches are soooooooooo boring.
England 2 - 0 Switzerland Kane Rooney 8 wins out of 8 baby. Rooney is England's all time scorer (50). Well done. Kane continue to look promising.
^Yeah, nice one Wayne, I kinda wish it'd been a goal scored in open play rather than a penalty but they all count. Given he's still not that old and is likely to remain part of the England team for several years yet you do have to wonder what his final tally will be. I'd say Kane has the potential to overtake him, but you never know in footy, I still remember when David Hirst was rated as highly as Shearer before injuries took their toll. It's not been the toughest of groups for England, but you can only beat the teams in front of you and we've gone about our business with quiet professionalism, which makes something of a refreshing change.
I'm looking forward to England vs. Germany again - the former surely have to change something lest the suffer the same fate and continue their history of tragedy against the Germans..... We will see....
Yes, the suffering we have endured at the hands of the German football team is probably the worst suffering Germany has ever inflicted upon us. We've always been pretty good in qualifying. Need to take that form into a tournament though. The new format might suit us but then again, it might suit a lot of teams.
We are good at football (soccer for the American lurkers), but apparently bad at Basketball. Despite the presence of Dirk Nowitzki.
I don't know if there is an age limit in basketball. I'm 37 and he is even a few weeks older than me. I guess that's quite old. Older than dirt. But not as old as Dax.
Let's hope you get to see something exciting. With 24 teams there'll be some less attractive matches, I guess.
I guess too. I have tickets for a group match between 2 teams that will be with France in the group A so it's still going to be interesting to see direct "enemies". I have tickets for the 1/4 finale in Saint-Denis, 1/4 is when it's starting to be exciting
Thursday 8th October - Tables Rep Ireland V Germany Scotland V Poland Georgia V Gilbralter Hungary V Faroe Islands Romania V Finland Albania V Serbia Portugal V Denmark Scotland's chances of 3rd place are extremely slim. Rep Ireland are more likely to get it (and still capable of getting 2nd).
Suspended for 90 days. Isn't that just corporate talk that means... still not being sacked. This time next week, Blatter will be president again and Platini will be running the UN.
Germany's loss against Ireland was embarrassing. I discussed it with some refugees interested in football (ManU and Real Madrid fans among them).....
