Okay as on 4:45pm 02.28.07 here are the early leaders tallied between four sites voting. In first place: #5 In Second Place A Tie Between #'s 1,4 & 8 and in Third Place #2 I will decide this weekend on the new combadge. Thanks again for all of you input.
Out of all those designs I'd go for #1. (It's fairly similar to the one that I use for Argus' Dark Mirror Starfleet). I'm not a great fan of using the "Cochrane Delta" for the Mirror Universe, mainly because it's never been used for it in any of the series. I feel it's more of a representation of The Federation/Starfleet in the regular universe and its equivalent for the Empire/Starfleet in the Mirror Universe is the Earth with the Sword through it.
I have to go with Alex on that one. I also have to vote for 8 too. That one is something that has never been seen and would look more better suited for post Nemesis and on.
Along with new combadges I am overhauling the rank insignia as well. I am going for a Navy/ Marine feel. Unlike the current ranking system these ranks will be worn on both sides of the collar all the way from Lowly Ensign to Fleet Admiral. Next I plan on re-designing the standard Imperial duty uniform.
Ellery has been really busy working on his masters degree. I talked to him today and mentioned the Titan and how people are wanting updates. Plus I have a modeler wanting to do a resin model of her, so we need the mesh worked on. He said that he would get some new renders out today or tomorrow. As soon as I get them I will post them here or on scifi-meshes.
Voting is over The winner & New Dark Mirror Combadge is #5. #1 Will become the New Imperial Starfleet Logo. The To Four were: First Place: #5 Second Place: #8 Third Place#1 Fouth Place: Tie between #4 & #7 Votes were tallied between Scifi-meshes, Trek BBS, scn.nov-net.com, and My Deviant Art Site. Thanks to everyone who voted.
What do the enlisted and warrant officer rank insignia look like? Are they collar brass like the commissioned officers, or do they use stripes?
There is a RPG game that was using the I.S.S. Ares as their ship. I have given them permission to use her, but we are changing her up a little. They want the I.S.S. version, so I am converting it into a Variant of the Olympus Class (Ares's Class). They wanted the weapons pod to be a flight deck so I converted that. If they don't like it oh well, I am planning on comiting this refit into my mirror Fleet anyway. This will more than likely become the I.S.S. Al Capone. Here is the first WIP shot of the refit. The Ships' name in their RPG is the Diligant. Sean
The U.S.S. Titan was my entry into the Pocket Books Design the Titan Contest. Which I won. She (The U.S.S. Version) is the offical Luna Class Design
Impressive! I hope the novels live up to your creation. Did you ever do any deck plans or other "treknical" details on these ships, in either universe?
Well, I hope that SOMEONE does, someday. Of course, ship design (like this) is OFTEN a collaborative process. Sean came up with the "lines" and now another guy is making a rather nice-looking 3D model (which has gone "poof" from this forum, it seems... but which I assume is still under development?), in collaboration with Sean. I suggested that the publisher might want to consider putting out a technical reference, on the same order as Shane Johnson's "Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise." I was roundly pummelled by folks who work for the publisher for having the audacity to do so (which is part of why I've lost my taste for Trek books recently... hard to read a story by someone who you've discovered that you don't like, personally, and not have that carry over into your ability to enjoy their work!). I STILL believe that something like that, if done on a cost-effective basis (we don't need hard-binding, glossy paper, "coffeetable edition" sizing, etc... we need cool CONTENT!) If S&S chooses not to go in this direction, I'm hopeful that SOMEONE ELSE will. It's a pretty slick design overall, I think. (Of course, if I ever build my own model of it, I'll have to fix my nitpick with the impulse engines! )
Cary, Ellery has recently posted acouple of new renders of the Titan over at scifi-meshes Link: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/3d-wips/4542-uss-titan.html Those are his first attemts at the bridge. Also the rcs packs are there as well.
Well here is the start of my next vessel the I.S.S. BADGER. She is going to be a small Fast Attack Scout Vessell Smaller than the Titan and a little bigger than the Defiant. She is almost a total kitbash of parts I liked off of the Ares. Enjoy.
