I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas. I love the music and festivities and the egg nog, don't care too much for the family shit. My favorite songs are: Happy X-Mass- John Lennon Please Come Home For Christmas-The Eagles Blue Christmas-Elvis Presley I like all of the traditional songs, especialy when the members of the rat pack sing them. I like Elvis' take on traditionals too. Bing Crosby's take also.
I haven't heard Bob Seger's version of Little Drummer Boy for years, and forgot what a brilliant version it is. Thanks for posting it, RJ! Kestra, it's brilliant to see you posting again, but I'm afraid I flat-out refused to listen to your recommendation. I love Christmas kitch, but I have my limits. I recently purchased Annie Lennox's new Christmas album, and highly recommend it. However, Loreena McKennitt does my favourite version of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2SR_P-_98s&feature=related
Classic FM has now started adding seasonal tunes into their rotation and the little tune below came up on the drive home today and made me feel really quite festive! [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwHEqx_3BYE[/yt]
^^ Two of the classic stations on my car's presets have been all-Christmas since at least a week before Thanksgiving. I'm long sick of this stuff already.
Ok, let's leave orchestral behind, and let Mannheim Steamroller do their thing with Mendelssohn instead... (plus, with this vid, you can watch a pretty good Audiosurf player do his thing too...) [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbDqu2ld9aI&feature=related[/yt]
