    NICE. :bolian:

Got one of those myself, recently - the U.S.S. Yamato (named both for the historical and anime ships of the same name, plus the Enterprise-D's ill-fated sister). Bit on the slow side for me, though - particularly when turning. Instead, I bought me this:

Introducing my new baby, the U.S.S. Ajax (NCC-95650). Fully MVAM-capable, armed to the teeth, and turns on a dime - and perfectly suited to making mincemeat of Borg flagships:

    New baby made me proud!

Looks particularly good when using the Aegis shield effect along with 'Mask Energy Signature' - looks like something out of 'Tron: Legacy':

Also got a new Type-10 shuttle (the 'Grissom', which seemed appropriate for obvious reasons), my previous command, the Luna-class U.S.S. Apollo (a shout-out to Sean Tourangeau's 'Lunar-class' variant prototype), and the Galor-class U.S.S. Tora Ziyal:

Honestly can't get over how much better STO is since I last played - simply from a visual standpoint, not even taking into account things like the DOFF system. From the revised Bajor/DS9 space maps, to the beautiful new Bajor ground/Defiant interior zones, it's all just so... ...Trekky, in the best possible way.

More piccies later - I've got some mission replays that need attending to. This game doesn't play itself, after all!

    Very nice...

i'll admit to being tempted by the Aegis set myself... if it wasn't for the utterly crap shield strength of the Aegis set, i'd go for it...

    check the spec...

    Aegis Covariant Shield Array

    +4.9 Starship Shield Performance
    +4.9 Starship Shield System
    6,930 Maximum Shield Capacity
    (10% Bleedthrough)
131 Shield Regeneration every 6 seconds
    Value: 100,000

    http://www.stowiki.org/Aegis_Technological_Research

    that's just painful...

I'd rather have nearly double shield strength and better regeneration personally lol

I really, really need to replay that Reman mission - my prototype shield is the one I got at Commander, and it's laughably weak.

That said, the main draw for me about the Aegis shield is the bonus abilities from the whole set. I do notice the difference from having the 'reactive shielding' perk - particularly since it means I don't need to use weapon-specific defensive gear (shields/hull plating mainly), thus saving those slots on my ship for other things.

As I say, though, I could do with having a top-level Reman shield - I imagine that'd make the Ajax nigh-on indestructible...

And, since a post in this thread is nowt without screenies:

The Ajax near the new, improved Bajor!

Speaking of 'new, improved' - the new Defiant-style interior is amazing. All the rooms you'd expect are there, and unlike the TOS Constitution interior (which was pretty approximate, and had lots of STO features crudely shoe-horned into it, like the trophy wall), all the game-specific bits are really well-integrated, in a way that maintains the series-accurate look.

    Case in point:

The new trophy room. Looks like a proper DS9-era set, doesn't it? Really pleased with how, with the right accolades on display, it actually looks like some kind of secure armory, with all kinds of foreign gear under lock and key. Kudos, Cryptic, for a really slick marriage of Star Trek from with STO function - bravo! :bolian:

Oh, and, while I'm at it, how about these? :

I just have to ask this because I'm such a DS9 nut, are the walls of the mess hall in the Defiant bridge set lined with spent power cell canisters from the phaser array?
