So if you were to design the flag of United Earth, how would you do it? Something plain like the UN flag, which just places their official seal on a colored background, or something more complex?

A number of creative people have designed their own version of the United Earth flag on various fansites, and most of them are generally modeled after the United Nations flag, featuring a geographical globe of Earth surrounded by laurel leaves.

That's how I would do it too, as a precursor to the Federation flag.

If I were to do such a thing in real life, I would probably use a modified form of the Flag of the United Nations -- probably just using the same design but getting rid of the grid lines.

ENT did, in fact, feature the Flag of United Earth at least twice, though. Once for all of the coffins from the United Earth Embassy bombing on Vulcan in "The Forge," and again hanging in the NX-01's mess hall in "Terra Prime."

    You can view it here.

Personally, I always liked this one by James W. Cadle. Simple and effective, without any awkward map or esoteric symbol.

Really puts those Pacific Islanders in their place huh?

Beverly Crusher suggested (in a hypothetic) that Australia was late to join United Earth, would explain another feature of the flag, no eastern Australia.

Certainly a fair criticism. Personally, I like to pretend that United Earth later changed the projection well enough that Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands are more clearly visible.

I would go for something like the olympic flag design, but instead of rings I would use solid circles of colour.

Yes I meant a symbol that is reconised as earth. But I don't think the flag should resemble any of the current country flags. Remember this is for the United Earth....by putting a pic of earth on an American flag would suggest that America is more important than other countries.

Although if we were to pick a flag to put the earth on for United Earth, I'd prefer this on....lol :nyah:

In the future, the flag will be made of "smart cloth," the globe will rotate on a field of sparkling stars.

My fellow Earthicans, we enjoy so much freedom, it's almost sickening. We're free to chose which hand our sex-monitoring chip is implanted in. And if we don't want to pay our taxes, why, we're free to spend a week with the Pain Monster.
