Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Interesting as Diane Lane has a previous Superman connection: she played Toni Mannix, the wife of studio head Eddie Mannix, who had an affair with George Reeves in Hollywoodland.

The tagline doesn't make sense though. Did Pa Kent bury some aliens in the backyard when Clark was young?

 

From "Superman"'s lover to Superman's mother? That's a bit creepy...

Although I guess it's no worse than the various Lois Lanes playing the mothers of newer Lois Lanes who then get intimate with or married to Clark/Superman (Noel Neill -> Margot Kidder; Phyllis Coates -> Teri Hatcher -> Erica Durance).

 

I love that fan poster, but yeah the tag line doesn't make much sense. Any fan poster with Kevin Costner should have the tag line "If You Build It They Will Come!!"

 

How about "dry land is a myth"

 

"This was a coup d'état with Oliver Queen waiting in the wings!"

 

Yeah, their names are Jor-el and Lara.

 

Annette O'Toole played Lana Lang and Martha Kent.

 

Right, that too. And she made a very lovely Lana.

 

The casting talk is somewhat elevating my expectations for this project.

Hasn't been officially announced yet, but possibly.

 

The Costner stuff was just rumors to be honest. The report was that Warner Bros/DC ENT were looking at him, that there had been no actual talks Since we've heard nothing since last week on it I'll continue to think it's a rumor.

 

The report had it switched around: Kevin Costner is actually playing Martha Kent and Diane Lane is playing Jonathan Kent.

 

I am surprised all the rumors have died down.
