Not sure how you interpret that as having a big head. He makes it very clear that he would be nowhere without the support of his fans.

His head is no bigger than it's ever been. The man just broke box office records, and he's having fun with it. Why shouldn't he?

You read something other than what Whedon posted.

On the basis of both attitude and talent, this guy deserves huge success far more than most of the people working out there in TV and movies. Here's hoping he can leverage this into projects of his own.

    I love this guy.

Joss Whedon, his fan thank you letter and what it says about how to do business in 2012

Really. I wouldn't put him in that dorky helmet, and given that they've succeeded with the character the way they're presenting him thus far I don't expect them to.

Personally I could kinda go for a new costume for Thor as well. The current one just looks a little too scifi-futuristic for my taste, and doesn't really give off much of an ancient, all-powerful, "God of Thunder" vibe.

Joss Whedon doesn't give any credit at all to Zak Penn. The alleged classiness in personal affairs is not so obvious to eyes unblinded by $$$.

Given that the internet claque is very likely responsible for Whedon's prominence, it is not noble condescension to stroke his fans. It's his long-standing business practice, his way of publicizing himself.

As for attitude being a justification for success, personally I wish his attitude included writing things that made sense, if only in their own terms.

I was wondering who the female shield agent was at the end talking to nick fury?

    Both character wise and actress.

saw it today and it was awesome. Hawkeye was awesome (and, according to my sister, hot), Black Widow was awesome, the helicarrier was awesome, Thor was awesome, Cap was awesome, Iron Man was awesome, Hulk was awesome, Coulson was awesome, Fury was awesome - particularly using a rocket launcher to shoot an F35 in it's take-off run - Maria Hill was awesome, Loki was awesome. Pepper's denim shorts were awesome.

the only thing stopping me giving it an A+ and not awesome in it?

    Phil Coulson dying

Apparently he didn't filmed a single word from that original screenplay.

Anyone think it would have been cool to show Captain America picking up Thor's hammer? Maybe during the battle Thor gets knocked for a loop, Cap's shield is lost somewhere, and he reaches for the nearest weapon available. Just until Thor is back on his feet.

Not a "sword in the stone" moment or a "hero wields ultimate weapon" moment, just a quick look of surprise by Thor that confirms what we already know: He's worthy.

Yeah, it would have been cool to see Cap do it but at the same time probably wouldn't make much sense to those in the audience who don't get what that means especially after seeing Hulk struggle to pick it up. You'd need some exposition in there explaining only those worthy can pick up Mjolnir.

Yeah, when you look at Penn's other movies, there's no hint of the kind of wit or complex storytelling that we see in Avengers. Clearly that had to be all Joss.
