That's because he insists on talking like every word deserves its own sentence.

Kirk's hot. Doesn't matter what hair he's wearing. That comment about Rand's hair is totally below the belt, though... ;)

That's because he so finely honed it by then that there was no need for any improvement. NONE!

I'm no fan of him tbh, but I disagree with that statement. Watched some of the Star Trek films and he got better in regards to his acting, and saw him in Boston Legal and he did a good job, imo, in it.

Shatner has always taken advantage of the best hair replacement technology available (never mind the "lost years" when he was sleeping in his pickup truck). Other follicly-challenged celebrities have not done quite so well as Shatner. John Travolta springs to mind ... linky

But I don't mind if a bald(ing) person chooses to wear a 'piece. What bugs me is when they are graying and dye the eyebrows. That's just too obviously trying way to hard to hang on to bygone youth. As I'm graying I notice it more and more often.

William Shatner's the only person I'm aware of whose hair has gotten fuller and lusher, as they age ... :rommie:

    Above the hairline.

And other celebrities use Botox and plastic surgery.

I'd rather enjoy Shatner's journey (trek?) to hair replacement satisfaction with him than watch others become hideous caricatures of their formerly youthful selves.

    But that's just me.

Shat's attitude toward his hair loss is just a wink and a nod away from acknowledgement. It's part of his sense of humor, part of the fun.

I think I saw that on the Shatner's Toupee blog, done with a still from TMP. They concluded that the face didn't quite look right and he must have had an eyelift or something.

    From: Bob Justman

    To: Gene Roddenberry

Gene: If you haven't already heard about it, we are missing some wigs and hair pieces. Bill Shatner borrowed all four of his hair pieces when we finished shooting. There are two new ones and two old ones. The new ones are worth approximately $200 apiece and the two old ones are worth approximately $100 a piece. Should Star Trek go again next season, this no doubt means that we will have to construct new hair pieces again for Bill because he will have used both the old ones and the new ones to such an extent that they will not be photographable. This I guarantee, since it has happened to us before.

From a memo reprinted in Star Trek Creator: The Authorized Biography of Gene Roddenberry by David Alexander, 1994.

As I understood it, Shatner was so much in denial about his hairpiece, that he actually wore it to bed! You know, I can just imagine his bed head in the morning, if he did! More likely though, it probably slipped off in the night ... his wife probably thought it was the cat, or something, and was probably petting it in a half-dream state ...

What's funny about that is that Shatner-- by his own admission-- sleeps in the nude. Why he'd be so self-conscious about his hair when the rest of him would be visible is something I don't understand. And it's not as though his wife wouldn't know he wore a hairpiece.

Aaaaaugh! Did you have to make me think of that scene he did au naturel with Angie Dickinson in Big Bad Mama?

That reminds me of Gerald Ford's quip: "Ronald Reagan doesn't dye his hair -- he's just prematurely orange." :)
