The stories with romance that leads to love making can be fun. The NC-17 tales that are just hook ups and sex are usual pretty lame.

I'm desperately searching for the Lazarus story by Focus Abbey; it's mentioned a few pages back as well that a Google search doesn't help a lot. If anybody has copied it to his or her harddrive, please let me know. The stories were quite good :)

On a side note. I have some original stuff i've been working on. It wouldn't qualify as "FanFic," although the style is inspired by a series of books that I am a fan of. Anyway, does anyone know of a good site I could post non-fanfic stories?

Just found this thread and if it has been previously recommended consider this another vote for TESSERACT by Kes7. It's broken into short chapters and is a great mix of character development and intrigue and adventure. Strongly recommend for any Star Trek fan and not to be missed for Voyager fans!

Oh, and it's right here in this forum!

A three-part story "The Final Reckoning" by Ben Pieper:
    http://www.fanfiction.net/u/51741/Ben_Pieper

A very long and epic fanfic with characters mostly from TNG, but also from DS9 and Voyager. The most important characters in the story are Picard and Q (even though the latter doesn't appear in many scenes). This is the best fanfic I've ever read.

The first part is about a devastating war spanning the entire galaxy, so expect massive amounts of character death. Character deaths actually make the first part depressing to read, but don't give up reading it. The first time reading I actually wondered whether the story would run out of characters.

The second part is the worst in my opinion. It's about a romance between Picard and an original character (there's a good reason for her being an OC).

The third part wraps up the events in the story. It has one of the best endings I've ever read in fiction.

If you are a hearty soul, then I would recommend "Star Trek Voyager: Counting in Time" a fan fic novel near and dear to my heart. It can be found here.

    http://coffeenebula.com/cgi-bin/board.cgi?read=152021

Its set 10 years after "Endgame" and catches us up on the lives of the former crew of the Intrepid class starship aptly named Voyager. The crew has long gone their separate ways; into the Admiralty, onto different ships and to different planets, even into Starfleet Academy and civilian life.

Starfleet has plans in 4 days, for a 10th year Anniversary celebration of the return of the storied ship from the Delta Quadrant. Unfortunately, fate intervenes when disaster strikes Starfleet Academy and two of its Professors are kidnapped. Two Professors very important to a former Captain of Voyager.

The novel tracks how Admiral Janeway unravels the mystery of the kidnapping, and mounts the rescue of her former crew with the help of some very devoted friends. The story shows us how our lives don't always turn out the way we planned, but that in the end we are still responsible for the choices we must make along the way.

Although a Voyager story, it has a smattering of characters from DS9.

I suspect the rating is PG for violence.

Please be aware, this story does not exist in the same "pocketbook universe" where a certain Voyager character met an untimely end. In fact one can read this fan novel without consulting any "post tv series" voyager novels for information. I would recommend rewatching "Endgame" before reading "Counting in Time", since it directly impacts many points from that episode.

One of my favorite fanfic authors who does not post on Trek BBS (as far as I am aware) is Selena. I haven't read all of her stories related to various fandoms yet, but here are two DS9 fanfics I really enjoyed. Both are based on the same concept of "five things that never happened", 5 AU stories that take the events of certain episodes of DS9 into a different direction from what actually happened on the show and explore how things might have turned out. The first one out of these explores the Kira/Dukat dynamic, and the second one the Bashir/Garak dynamic. They're pretty dark, have really good characterizations... and amazingly, neither is porn

    Five Things Which Never Happened

Five roads not taken between Kira and Dukat. Exploration of a relationship. NOT a romance.

    Paths Not Taken
Five things which never happened between Garak and Bashir.

    In many different universes, simultaneously.
I just finished reading that one a few days ago - it was quite absorbing. And I'm so far behind on reading the newer Trek novels, I can't make heads nor tails of most of what people discuss in the Treklit forum here anyway - so I just ignore any stories that depend on the reader's familiarity with any of the post-TV series novels.

Not one of the Trek TV series OR movie series ended the way I'd have ended them anyway, so I enjoy stories that don't take them as "gospel."

Glad you liked it. (Hope there weren't too many typos.)

I have to heartily recommend the work of GIBRALTAR whose style, imagination and attention to detail have really caught my attention.

I can only say again that having read through this section of the BBS, there are authors here worthy of publication!!

    Its fantastic!:bolian:

For a very creative take on TNG try Terran Empire -The Next Generation here on the local board. A very unique blend of Empire and TNG stories woven together. Even with the occasional typos.

Very, very kind of you to say so lads. I should point out though that no one should read my scribblings unless they've got a high tolerance for long chapters, bad jokes and an outrageously OTT Mary Sue.:)

Has anyone mentioned Star Trek: The Final Frontier by Chris Adamek? Seasons 1-3 are okay, but the last 2 seasons it just shines.
