She's a celebrity which makes her automatically newsworthy. I still remember during the Iowa flooding they cut into their coverage of that because she was making a personal appearance somewhere (it wasn't only CNN that did that though - Fox and MSNBC did it too).

How much clout does someone who was a one-hit wonder 13-14 years ago and starred in a PAX TV show no one watched have? She's already eclipsed her daddy's career.
Well, she's ALMOST 16. But, yeah. And 16 is legal in much of the US. And, yeah, right now it seems like she's more "product" than a performer but once she grows out of the Disney/HM mold she should be able to make it on her own.

She better enjoy her fame now, because when she becomes an adult she will join the Child Stars Has Been club. I figure in 10 years we will see her on an episode of The Surreal Life.

I swear the guy on the radio yesterday had *two* separate stories on who Miley may be dating. One a 22 year-old backup singer, and the other a co-star. Then there was the radio interview asking Daniel Radcliff if he was dating her. And the pregnancy rumors. Boy, the press is sure fascinated by this 15yo kid's sex life...
