Frankly, the very best thing in these trailers so far is Hayley Atwell - not only is she magnetic, but the '40s look suits her really well. :techman:

As for the whole costumey thing - the observation's not particularly astute to begin with. Some actors, like Tommy Lee Jones, look as comfortable and natural in 40s military drag as Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, John Wayne or anyone who's done these movies since they started making most of them in color.

I totally agree about Haley. I had no clue who she was when she was cast, but she clearly fits the part extremely well from what little we've seen from her. I think she is going to be one of the bright spots in the film.

The way she looks at Rogers as he's being sealed up in that machine speaks volumes.

(Of course, that's trailer editing. No telling whether it works that way in the movie).

    AWESOME!!!
I think Marvel is going to creatively win again with this. As great as that trailer was the movie still opens the weekend after "The Last Harry Potter Movie EVER!".

I just don't want this to get lost during all the fanfare of that.

Wow, this looks awesome! I have to admit I was a little nervous before this trailer, but not anymore. It looks like this is going to a great year for Marvel Studios. I just wish Green Lantern looked this good.:(

Saw the trailer for this and just thought: wtf

Don't get me wrong. I know/love CA as Marvel fan/geek, but I just thought this looked horrible. More cheesy/CGI bleeeurgh. On strength of that trailer, think I'll pass. But if it brings happiness and joy to diehard Cap fans, I'm a happy bunny too :)

I really, really don't like the look of the costume but I've held my tongue until I saw it in action. I still don't like it but I have to say the rest of the movie looks pretty good. I'm definitely going to check it out, but neither it or Thor (which I will check out as well) have me that excited.

The only thing I'm familiar with her is her performance in the Doctor Who audio play Blood of the Daleks and I loved her performance. She looks pretty good here.

I'm not a diehard anything - CA is not one of my top ten most favorite comic book characters ever - and this looks great to me. So it may do well with the general audience.

I think that probably holds true for THOR as well.

That may well be. I think that Green Lantern is likely to suffer from being so faithful to the comics that it seems silly to the casual audience.

I'm charmed by the whole WWII milieu of the CA movie. I'm not sure I'd find him as interesting in the fish-out-of-water "present day" version - and I'm not sure Hayley would be quite as ravishing without that 40s 'do and lipstick.

Looks pretty good. To an extent, the story is very familiar, but the 1940s setting makes it distinctive (compared to, say, the Green Lantern trailer, which, even though I like the character, seems to have nothing much new compared to every other superhero movie made in the last 10 years).

Hayley Atwell looks great in the period garb, though having seen Brideshead Revisited that doesn't surprise me.

Tommy Lee Jones' speech sounded pretty good.

As amazing as this film is going to be, it's really sad to see it stricken by the cinematic blight of orange-and-teal color timing.

I'm beginning to think you've gone so far into character, you actually believe that.

That's the LEAST of GL's problems, if what I've heard is true.

Think of it as photoshop for movies. Color corrections, enhancements, tinting, brightness, contrast, etc., on the entire shot, one/multiple spots, and everything in between.

I, too, am tired of everything that takes place between 1850 and 1959 having a muddy brown pallet.

Thanks for the link. That was an interesting read. Now that I know what I've been looking at I get it...some of the time. In that article I can't say I felt anything was wrong in Wolfman or say Hot Tub Time Machine. The author of the piece notes one of the worst offenders being Transformers 2. Let's be honest I had zoned out of that movie for more reasons than color palatte.

I can't say I notice too much here in Cap, especially now that I know. A few places in that trailer perhaps but it's not going to ruin my experience.

I just saw this new trailer at the end of The Daily Show tonight, very cool! I like this trailer, it looks like an exciting movie. It looks as exciting as Ironman did in 2008 or Star Trek 09. This summer should rock!
