I'm not sure when I'll see it. Definitely within the first three days!

I know in the final few weeks, massive spoilery details will start to crop up. I'm gonna be avoiding them, posting just in here by then. But I'm sure whatever makes haters mad about the film, they'll be going on about for years. So I won't miss too much!:)

Going to the movies is a rare event for me. Since 2001, I've gone to see The Harry Potter movies, Dawn of the Dead remake and Stepford Wives remake, plus the first Trek Movie. So, I avoid the opening crowds, because I don't like theaters much :alienblush:

Oh, I understand completely. Hubby and I go to the movies a fair amount...but we have been finding ourselves at weekend afternoon matinees more and more in order to avoid the more annoying patrons.

This one, however, will be earliest show possible after work on opening night!

I will happily wait a few days to talk to my countdown compatriots about the object of our obsession!

My wife and I are discussing the same thing right now. When to go see it. I prefer avoiding opeing night as well, but I think the matinees will be filled with screaming kids. What to do...what to do..

And the 70's were great, too.

The Friday morning matinée shouldn't be too bad as the kids are still in school then.

I'm either going midnight Thursday or the first showing Friday morning.

Is this all 3D showings? People paid a premium for the IMAX early showing on May 15. That'll piss off some folks who would've rather not paid the extra for IMAX

Also, that's getting closer to Iron Man release

I was gonna add the IMAX earlier date as we drew closer, but if they've changed it to ALL 3D showings I may have to bump the primary countdown...

1974 was when the 6-episode second season of the animated Trek first aired. The very last episode was "The Counter-Clock Incident," which made no sense whatsoever. In his novelization of the episode, Alan Dean Foster rewrote the whole thing as a bizarre Klingon trick!

"The Counter-Clock Incident" was the first appearence of Captain Robert April, who features in the Countdown to Darkness comic and appears to have a namesake BFG in the next movie.

When the first season of TAS arrived. A few scenes and some dialogue from "Yesteryear" were re-used in the 2009 movie.

    ^Thanks!

The earliest concepts for the animated Trek involved the crew all having young teenage cadet apprentices. There's even some concept art in The Art of Star Trek. They were all Mini Me versions of the crew. I suspect it would have been awful!

    Here's another concept pic: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5161/5302476241_e391d5fb13.jpg
